Girls Basketball Statistical Leaders through midpoint of 2019-20 season

It's time to take a look at the statistical leaders in girls' basketball as we head into the second half of the 2019-20 season.

Scoring

Milwaukee Pulaski co-op senior Shatima McFarland is averaging a state-best 43 points per game through her nine games played this season. The 5-foot-7 guard has games of 59, 58 and 54. The 59-point performance is the second-most points scored in a single game in state history, trailing South Shore graduate Megan Gustafson, who scored 64 points in a game during her senior year in 2015. McFarland currently has 1,808 career points. 

Racine Lutheran senior Caroline Strande averaged 29.4 points per game as a junior and that number has taken a jump through 11 games this season. The 5-foot-11 Minnesota signee is second in the state in scoring with 37.5 points per game. Strande has scored over 40 points in four games this season, including a career-best 45 points in a win over Wilmot a couple weeks ago. She currently has 2,070 career points. Strande is also sixth in the state in assists (6.2) and fourth in steals (6) per game. See below for the top 20. 

Rebounds

Independence junior Ziy Conner, a 5-foot-11 forward, is averaging a state-best 16.2 rebounds per game. Milwaukee Hamilton/Audubon junior Marchelle Bowden, a 5-foot-10 forward, and Fall River senior Samantha Leisemann, a 6-foot forward, are second and third, averaging 14.2 and 14.1 rebounds per game, respectively. 

Assists

Wrightstown senior Bridget Froehlke, a 5-foot-9 point guard, leads the state with 7.3 assists per game. She is also 49th in the state in scoring with 19.5 points per game. The University of Missouri-Kansas City signee has compiled 1,130 points and 409 assists in her career. 

Lakeland freshman Julianna Ouimette, a 5-foot-9 guard, is second in the state in assists (7.2) and leads the state with 8.9 steals per game. Ouimette is also ninth in scoring with 24.1 points per game. 

Aquinas senior Lexi Donarski, a 5-foot-10 point guard, is third in the state in assists (6.8) and is 18th in scoring (22.5). The Iowa State signee has guided the Blugolds to the past two Division 4 state titles. Donarski has compiled 1,769 points, 469 assists and 309 steals in her illustrious career. 

Brown Deer senior Mattie Schimenz, like Donarski, is averaging 6.8 assists per game. She is also averaging 17 points per game for the Falcons.

Black Hawk junior Bailey Butler, a 5-foot-7 point guard, is fifth in the state with 6.7 steals per game. The Green Bay commit is also second in the state in steals (7.6) per game, and is averaging 13.7 points per game for the defending D5 state champion Warriors, winners of their last 38 games (state best active streak).  

Steals

Julianna Ouimette and Bailey Butler, both mentioned in more detail above, are the top two in steals per game with 8.9 and 7.6, respectively.
