It's time to take a look at the statistical leaders in boys basketball as we head into the second half of the 2019-20 season.

Scoring

Sheboygan Lutheran senior Jacob Ognacevic has been the dominant figure in boys basketball so far this year, taking his game to an even higher level after helping the Crusaders to a Division 5 state championship last season.

The Valparaiso recruit has scored at least 24 points in every game this year, with ten games of at least 30 points and six over 40 points. On the season he is averaging 36.6 points per game while shooting 74.4% from the field, 82.3% from the free-throw line, and 51.2% from behind the three-point arc.

Lutheran is a strong contender to win another state title, and if he continues to average 36 points per game and they team gets to a state title game, he could become just the fourth player in state history to go over 1,000 points in a single season, and perhaps threaten Anthony Pieper's single-season record of 1,063 points set back in 1992-93 for Wausaukee.

Senior Anthony Jones of Destiny is second in scoring, averaging 31.5 points per game, while Hilbert's Adam Dietrich (30.8 ppg) and Gabe Krueger (30.7 ppg) are also over 30 per contest. La Crosse Central senior Johnny Davis, a Wisconsin recruit who is a front-runner for Mr. Basketball along with Ognacevic, rounds out the top five with an average of 29.6 points per ballgame.

Rebounds

Milwaukee Golda Meir senior forward Mason Johnson (6'6") is currently the state's leading rebounder, averaging 18 boards per game. Johnson pours in more than 23 points per game for the team. He has five games of at least 20 rebounds, including each of the past four contests.

Sheboygan Lutheran's Jacob Ognacevic, the state's leading scorer, is second in rebounding with 17.2 per contest.

Assists

Palmyra-Eagle's Brandon Wilde is all about passing. This fall, he led the state in passing yards during the regular season. Transitioning to hoops, he's kept that pass-first attitude, leading the state with 14.1 assists per game for the Panthers. He's had at least 10 assists in each game, though he averages just 4.7 points per contest and has scored in double-figures just once.

Milwaukee Golda Meir's Matthew Wade is the only other player averaging double-digit assists per game at 12.7. Fennimore's Kellen Kenney is third with 9.2 assists per game.

Steals

Lake Holcombe senior Kaden Kinney is a returning First Team All-Conference choice who leads the state in steals, averaging 6.9 per game for Chieftains, who are tied for third in the Lakeland-East. He's second on the team averaging 15.1 points per game while leading the Chieftains in rebounding (7.3 rpg) and assists (5.8 apg).
