PlayInTheDells.com Athlete of the Week Nominees: Feb. 24 - Mar. 1

Sarah Mueller, Pacelli girls basketball: Pacelli captured its first regional championship since 2005 due in large part to some late game heroics by Sarah. Before that, Sarah scored 22 points as Pacelli downed fourth-seeded Colby 56-52. Pacelli then squared off with top seeded Auburndale in the regional finals. With five seconds remaining, Sarah drove the lane put in the game-winning shot as Pacelli won 48-46. Sarah finished with 24 points in the win.

Sydney Burris, Martin Luther girls basketball: Sydney began the week by scoring 14 points and adding six rebounds in a 61-35 regional semi-final win over Shoreland Lutheran. Sydney then was incredible as Martin Luther downed Whitewater 61-55 to capture a regional championship. She scored a game high 30 points and hauled in 13 rebounds as well.

Matthew Marcinske, Birchwood boys basketball: Matthew surpassed an incredible milestone this past week as Birchwood picked up a pair of wins. First in a 94-81 win over Mellen, Matthew had 21 points, five rebounds, and four assists. He then scored 37 points, adding five rebounds and five assists in a 75-65 win over Gilmanton. In Matthew's dominating performance, he surpassed the 2,000 point mark in his high school career.

Keegan O'Toole, Arrowhead wrestling: Keegan has been one of the most dominant wrestlers in state history. This past weekend he looked to do something only 17 wrestlers have done before him in the state of Wisconsin; win four individual state titles. His first three matches ended in pins before he squared off with Elkhorn's Colman Karl in the Division 1, 160 pound title bout. Keegan kept to the script and pinned Colman, capturing gold for the fourth straight season. On the weekend, Keegan spent just 10:33 on the mat in his four matches.

Max Meeuwsen, Bay Port wrestling: Max came into this past weekend's individual state tournament with only one loss on the year. It came at the hands of Menasha's Cullen Quick, last weekend at sectionals. The two heavyweights squared off once again in the D1 heavyweight title bout. Max avenged last weekend's loss with a 5-2 decision and a second straight state championship.
