Senior Girls Basketball Awards: Wing Finalists

Wisconsin Sports Network is proud to showcase the WSN High School Basketball Awards.

The finalists for the top senior wing award have been selected. Winners are announced the week of the state tournament. 

Leah Earnest, Stevens Point: Earnest is averaging 28.2 points, 13.9 rebounds, 3 assists and 2.3 steals per game for the Panthers, 17-7 overall. The 5-foot-11 Valparaiso University signee has career totals of 2,065 points, 107 three-pointers and over 1,000 rebounds. Stevens Point faces defending D1 state champion Bay Port in a sectional semifinal tonight at D.C. Everest High School. 

Emily Herzberg, Melrose-Mindoro: Herzberg is averaging 16.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 3.9 steals and 1.2 blocks per game for the Mustangs, 23-1 overall. She has helped Melrose-Mindoro to D4 state runner-up finishes in each of the past two seasons. Herzberg, a 6-foot South Dakota State signee, has compiled 1,325 points, 627 rebounds, 394 assists and 335 steals in her career. Melrose-Mindoro plays Neillsville in a D4 sectional semifinal tonight at Black River Falls High School. 

Leilani Kapinus, Madison Memorial: Kapinus is averaging 17.8 points, 9.7 rebounds, 4.1 steals and 2 blocks per game for the Spartans, 23-1 overall. The 5-foot-11 Penn State signee has compiled 1,189 points despite missing nearly all of her junior season. Madison Memorial meets Waunakee in a D1 sectional semifinal tonight at Sun Prairie High School. 

Anna Mortag, Brookfield Central: Mortag averaged 19.9 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2 steals per game for the Lancers, 15-9 overall. The 6-foot IUPUI signee career totals include 1,522 points and 649 rebounds. Brookfield Central fell to West Bend West, 57-47, in a D1 regional final. 

Olivia Sobczak, Oconomowoc: Sobczak is averaging 20.2 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game for the Racoons, 20-4 overall. The 6-footer holds numerous NCAA Division II offers. Sobczak has compiled 1,234 career points despite missing her entire junior season with a knee injury. Oconomowoc plays Milwaukee King in a D1 sectional semifinal tonight at Milwaukee South High School.
