PlayInTheDells.com Athlete of the Week Nominees: Mar. 9-15

Sami Martin, Platteville girls basketball: Sami capped off a stellar four year prep career at Platteville by leading the Hillman to a 48-45 win over Arcadia at the Resch Center. Sami, who is a Bradley commit, finished the game with 17 points, nine rebounds, and three steals. She made five of nine shots from the field and added seven of eight from the charity stripe.

Leah Lemke, Wrightstown girls basketball: Leah had a break out performance at the WIAA State Basketball Tournament as Wrightstown downed Lake Mills 62-54. Just a sophomore, Leah poured in a career high 24 points in the win. She added eight rebounds and three assists.

Lexi Donarksi, Aquinas girls basketball: Lexi put a bow on an incredible prep career this past week as she led Aquinas to a 73-42 win over Crandon. Lexi tied for the game high with 23 points. She stuffed the stat sheet with five rebounds, eight assists, seven steals, and two blocks. Today Lexi was named Miss Basketball in the state of Wisconsin by the WBCA.

Calette Lockington, Melrose-Mindoro girls basketball: Like two of her nominees, Calette ended her prep career on a high note and leading her team to a final win. In the last prep basketball game in the state for the 2019-20 season, Melrose pulled out a thrilling 57-55 overtime win over Mishicot. Callete hit some big time shots down the stretch as she had a team high 22 points. She added five rebounds, four assists, and four steals.

Jacob Ognacevic, Sheboygan Lutheran boys basketball: Despite not having the chance to make it back to the state tournament, Jacob ended his prep career doing something only two before him had. In an 83-73 win over Hustisford, Jacob scored a game high 32 points and added 17 rebounds. In doing so, the Valparaiso commit crossed the 1,000 point mark in just this season. Only Anthony Pieper and Mickey Crowe have surpassed that season milestone in state history.
