These are uncertain times in the world, with the direct health impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak continuing as everyone attempts to deal with the fallout. There will be many challenges moving forward as businesses, employees, and families are impacted, even if their health remains.

As a small company dedicated to the players, coaches, and fans of Wisconsin high school sports, we have always tried to represent the great things coming out of prep sports in a positive manner. Our incredible, award-winning staff does so with professionalism, respect, and a great sense of pride.

We have talked to many people, including coaches and other media, who have spent time following high school sports in other states, and each one says that there are no resources doing what we do at the level that we do and the breadth that we do it. Our research over the years suggests WisSports.net is truly unique in the country as well.

The current timeline outlined by Governor Tony Evers calls for school closures and the canceling of high school sports through April 6th. These next few weeks would have been a transition period for WSN, as we wrapped up winter sports and prepared for the beginning of spring sports. If the timeline outlined by Governor Evers remains, we will likely see little impact on our business.

However, it appears more and more likely that spring sports will be negatively impacted for a longer period. Should that occur, it will create some challenges for us, as the "basic info", as we call it, of league management pages such as team pages, rosters, box scores, stats leaders, schedules, and results make up the majority of our traffic.

Our original written content is a vital part of what we do and serves as a means to highlight the outstanding teams, players, and stories in high school sports while keeping fans updated on the latest happenings both on and of the court/field, but the sum total of the tens of thousands of league management pages dwarfs the traffic from written content.

We are in solid shape as a business, and have great support from our parent companies at SportsEngine and NBCUniversal. But we know there will be challenges ahead, like there will be for so many small businesses.

So, what can you do to help? Nothing different than you've always done.

Visit WisSports.net frequently, enjoy the many pieces of original content our staff produces (both free articles and those that require a WSN Extra subscription), and surf around the site to check out pages and areas you find interesting. If you can add a few extra pages to your visits, it can be helpful. If you're here for information on the top passers from last football season, head over and check out the top rushers as well. If you're visiting to find your high school basketball stats from five years ago, take a look at this year's squad as well, check out the Player Stats page, click on a few box scores.

If you are so inclined, able, and interested in getting access to hundreds of original articles every year that you won't find anywhere else, supporting what we do by purchasing a WSN Extra subscription would be greatly appreciated, and makes an impact on our ability to continue what we do.

You can purchase a monthly or yearly WSN Extra subscription by clicking here.

Our staff already had dozens of content ideas planned for the next several weeks, and we are working on additional ideas to allow us to not only provide information, news, and analysis to our great readers, but opportunities to connect with high school sports fans, even doing some reminiscing as we all look to fill the void left by the sports hiatus. The #WSNWatchParty events are one example of new and different content we'll be working on.

Whenever high school sports resumes, we will be there and we will be ready to continue our work as the trusted resource for high school sports coverage in Wisconsin. We thank you for nearly 18 great years of support and look forward to many, many more.

Respectfully,

Travis Wilson, WisSports.net General Manager
