The 2019-20 girls' basketball season ended unexpectedly, after the Division 3 and Division 4 state semifinals, but we will still take some time look back at the year's top performers.

You can take a look at the scoring leaders and rebounding leaders, but we now take a look at the assist leaders from this season.

Wrightstown senior Bridget Froehlke led the state with seven assists per game. The NCAA Division I University of Missouri-Kansas City signee also averaged 19.7 points per game with a state-high 116 three-pointers. Froehlke suffered a torn ACL the week of state, which forced her to miss the D3 state semifinal win over Lake Mills.

Leading the way in Division 1 was Brookfield Central junior CJ Romero, who averaged 5.4 assists per game. The 5-foot-3 point guard also averaged 9.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest for the Lancers. Appleton East sophomore Emily La Chapell averaged five assists per game. The 5-foot-11 guard also averaged 16.9 points and eight rebounds per contest. La Chapell currently holds five NCAA Division I offers.

In Division 2, Lakeland freshman Julianna Ouimette led the division with 6.9 assists per game. The 5-foot-9 guard also averaged 21.4 points, seven rebounds and 7.9 steals per contest for the Thunderbirds. Reedsburg sophomore Macie Wieman finished second in the division with six assists per game.

Aquinas senior Lexi Donarski, an Iowa State signee, finished second in the state with 6.9 assists per game, which was the best in Division 4. The 5-foot-10 point guard also averaged 24.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.5 steals per game. Donarski was named Miss Basketball by the WBCA earlier in the week.

In Division 5, Black Hawk junior Bailey Butler averaged 6.5 assists per game for Warriors, winners of their last 54 games. The 5-foot-7 point guard also averaged 15.3 points and 6.9 steals per game. Butler is committed to Green Bay.

Below are the assist leaders for the 2019-20 season, with the top 25 overall plus the top 10 for each division. Players who did not have complete information entered by their coach were not included.
