Grant Manke

Although Grant Manke is a football recruit for NCAA Division II Winona State, make no mistake, the rugged 6-foot-4 senior forward also excels on the basketball court.

Bangor's four-year varsity performer and two-time Player of the Year in the Scenic Bluffs Conference is a double-double machine and has been picked as the top Post player in the annual Wisconsin Sports Network Senior Boys Basketball awards.

As a senior, Manke averaged 22.7 points and 12.9 rebounds while leading Bangor to the league title and a 24-2 overall record under coach Jacob Pederson.

His footwork, physical strength and basketball skill were simply too much for opponents to handle as he dominated the paint area for the traditionally strong Cardinals.

No team knew that better than Cashton, the runner-up finisher in the Scenic Bluffs and a team that won 17 of 25 games.

On January 9, Manke made 17 of 22 floor shots and all three of his foul shots en route to a career-high 37 points in an 89-55 victory over Cashton. He also pulled down 19 rebounds in that contest.

Scoring the vast majority of his points near the basket, Manke shot a remarkable 74 percent from the field, making 249 of 337 attempts. He finished his stellar four-year prep career with 1,694 points.
