Lake Country Lutheran coach David Bahr has led the Lightning to three state title games, with a pair of championships

The 2020 baseball season is on hold, but in an effort to remain positive and provide recognition for the athletes and teams, we will be spotlighting the preseason rankings from the Baseball Wisconsin Yearbook, the official publication of the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association.

Lake Country Lutheran was upset by Brookfield Academy in a regional final last season, but it should only serve as added motivation for the Lightning, who enter as the state's number one team in the Division 3 Baseball Wisconsin Yearbook rankings.

The team went 18-7 overall under longtime head coach David Bahr, who guided the Lightning to a runner-up finish in 2013 followed by titles in 2014 and 2015. The Midwest Classic Conference figures to be very strong once again, but they have what it takes to come out on top.

Jack Leverenz is a returning First Team All-Conference selection who hit .442 and went 4-2 with a 2.10 ERA on the mound, while Andrew Schumacher, Will Brazgel, and Corey Lindner provide plenty of talent and experience as well.

Rounding out the top five are Mineral Point, Stratford, Markesan, and Kenosha St. Joseph.

Below are the preseason spring baseball rankings courtesy of the Baseball Wisconsin Yearbook. The 2020 book is the 28th edition, 224 pages in length and in full color. Written and edited by Joe Waite and Chris Lavold, it features a season breakdown for every high school program in the state.
