Cuba City won all 25 games it played during the 2019-20 campaign.

But the Cubans had to work overtime -- and then another overtime -- in order to turn back Fennimore on January 10 in Fennimore.

The host Golden Eagles came the closest of any team on the Cuba City schedule of handing the Cubans and coach Jerry Petitgoue a setback.

However, in the second overtime, Cuba City scored 10 points and got some clutch free throws from senior guard Brady Olson to pull out a 74-70 victory.

It appeared Cuba City was going to win the game at the end of the first overtime when talented junior Brayden Dailey (6-6) was fouled off of a post-up move in the paint by Fennimore junior Adam Larson (6-9). Larson, the son of Fennimore coach Troy Larson, extended his arms straight up in the air and did not leave the floor, but he was whistled for his fifth foul nonetheless.

Dailey missed the first of two foul shots and, after a Cuba City timeout, missed his second attempt and Fennimore grabbed the rebound with just over four seconds left. The Golden Eagles were unable to get off a shot before the horn sounded, sending the contest into a second overtime.

Dailey, who owns NCAA Division I scholarship offers from Green Bay and Milwaukee, among others, finished with 25 points and 15 rebounds, but he did miss six of his 13 foul shots as the capacity and noisy crowd looked on. Cuba City went 19 of 31 (61 percent) from the free-throw line.

Olson (6-0), a NCAA Division II recruit for Parkside, had 19 points, six rebounds and five assists and junior Jack Misky (6-4) contributed 15 points and five rebounds for the Cubans, who beat Fennimore in the second meeting between the two Southwest Wisconsin Activities League rivals 84-63 in Cuba City. Cuba City also posted a 78-53 triumph over visiting Fennimore in a WIAA Division 4 regional final contest.

For Fennimore, which completed its season with a 17-7 record, freshman Brady Larson (5-11) scored a season-best 20 points, making five three-point shots.

Adam Larson, Brady's older brother, added 17 points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots while junior Warren Adam (5-11) contributed 17 points.
