Boys Basketball Alumni Round-up: Division 3 Award & All-Conference Special

Many high school basketball standouts in Wisconsin go on to big things at the college level and in the pros, and this is our spot to recognize those athletes each week and help you keep up with what is going down on some of your favorite players from the past. If you have alumni news, please send it to Colton Wilson.

Adam Fravert (Marshfield HS), UW-Oshkosh - WIAC Co-Player of the Year

Like his teammate, Adam earned many and more honors this past basketball leading the Titans to a 20-9 record. To go along with his WIAC Co-Player of the Year award, he was named to the First Team All-Conference and All-Defensive Team for the second straight season. He was named to the D3hoops.com All-Central Region First Team and was a Second Team All-American. He was also named a NABC First Team All-American.

On the season, Adam was third in the conference in scoring (18.4 ppg), first in rebounding (9 rpg), and fourth in assists (3.4 apg). On top of that, he led the league with 1.5 blocks per game. In his career at UW-Oshkosh, Adam totaled 1,459 points, 802 rebounds, 312 assists, and 158 blocks.

Adam emerged in his senior season at Marshfield as he earned All-Wisconsin Valley First Team All-Conference honors. He averaged over 14 points per game as a senior while helping his team to a 14-9 record.

Carter Voelker (Kiel HS), UW-Platteville - WIAC Co-Player of the Year

A four year starter at UW-Platteville, Carter continued to raise his play year after year. He spearheaded the Pioneers to a 23-5 record and a first-place regular season finish in the WIAC. His Co-Player of the Year award was partnered with his second straight First Team selection. In addition, he was named to the D3hoops.com All-Central Region First Team and their Third Team All-American team.

For the season, Carter averaged 15.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. He was seventh in scoring, fourth in rebounds, and second in assists in the league. For his career, Carter scored over 1,100 points, hauled in over 450 rebounds, and dished out over 250 assists.

At Kiel, Carter was a two-time All-Eastern Wisconsin All-Conference selection. His senior season he was named the Player of the Year in the conference as well as earning WBCA Division 3 All-State Honorable Mention honors. In his prep career, Carter scored over 1,500 points.

Jack Flynn (Appleton West HS), UW-Oshkosh - First Team All-WIAC

Jack picked up many and more honors this past season. Already a two-time WIAC First Team selection, Jack again found himself in that spot. After being named a D3hoops.com Fourth Team All-American, Jack made the second team this season. This past season, Jack averaged 16.6 points and 6.6 rebounds and led the WIAC with a 53.5% shooting percentage. In his career, he totaled 1,565 points and 799 rebounds.

At Appleton West High School, Jack really burst onto the scene in his senior season. He averaged over 18 points and five rebounds per game. He earned All-Fox Valley Association First Team honors as well as being named a Division 1 WBCA All-State selection.

Equan Ards (Milwaukee Hamilton HS), UW-Whitewater - First Team All-WIAC

After spending the last few years at a pair of different community colleges, Equan burst onto the season at Whitewater. Just a junior, Equan led the WIAC in scoring, averaging over 21 points per game. He shot over 50% from the field, good for third in the conference. In addition to his All-Conference nod, Equan was named to the D3hoops.com All-Central Region Third Team.

In three years playing basketball at Milwaukee Hamilton High School, Equan scored over 1,100 points. He secured All-Milwaukee City First Team honors in his final two seasons, both of which he averaged over 20 points per game.

Terek Nesheim (Mount Horeb HS), UW-La Crosse - First Team All-WIAC

In his fourth and final season, Terek continued to up his game, earning his All-Conference honors. A two-year starter, Terek helped lead the Eagles to a 21-6 record and a third-place conference finish. On the year, he averaged 11 points, 4.9 rebounds and over one steal per game.

During his junior season at Mount Horeb, Terek was a key piece to the Division 2 state champion team. He scored over 26 points in the two combined state games. As a senior, Terek averaged over 13 points and six rebounds per game as he garnered Badger-North Second Team honors.

Ethan Anderson (Black River Falls HS), UW-La Crosse - First Team All-WIAC

Ethan took a step up this season as a sophomore for the Eagles, starting all 27 games after being a role player off the bench. He averaged nearly 16 points per game and was second on the team in rebounds, averaging just under five per game. He scored 20+ points seven times this season, scoring a career high 25, five different times. Ethan’s 86% shooting percentage from the free throw line led the WIAC.

At Black River Falls, Ethan scored over 1,800 career points as he earned First Team All-Coulee twice, including being named the Coulee Conference Player of the Year as a senior. In his senior year alone, Ethan averaged 27.6 points and 10.6 rebounds as he was named a WBCA All-State selection.

Wyatt Cook (Pewaukee HS), UW-La Crosse - Honorable Mention WIAC

Wyatt took a major leap in his junior season, starting every game for the Eagles. He averaged over 12 points, hauled in a team high six rebounds, and added over one block and one steal per game. Wyatt had two double-doubles on the year and scored 20+ points in five games.

A four-year varsity performer at Pewaukee, Wyatt was a three-time All-Woodland-West selection. He scored over 800 points in his prep career and as a junior was named a WBCA All-State Honorable Mention selection.

Blake Ehrke (Deerfield HS), UW-Stevens Point - Honorable Mention WIAC

In his final season, Blake found his way into the starting rotation and upped his game, averaging 12.2 points per game after only 3.2 in his junior season. Blake also was the second best rebounder in the league, averaging over eight boards per game and was third in steals, averaging 1.7 per game.

Blake was a stat stuffer while at Deerfield High School. He averaged a double-double in his last three seasons, finishing with 1,604 points and 1,047 rebounds. Blake was a three-time All-Trailways South First Team selection and was named the conference’s Player of the Year in both his junior and senior seasons. He was named a WBCA All-State First-Team honoree two straight seasons.

Garrett Nelson (Beaver Dam HS), UW-Stevens Point - Honorable Mention WIAC

Halfway through the season, Garrett was inserted into the starting rotation and never looked back. He scored over 10 points per game for the Pointers and helped them finish with a 15-11 record. Twice, Garrett scored over 20 points.

In high school, Garrett was a prolific scorer, averaging over 20 points per game in both his junior and senior years at Beaver Dam. He finished his prep career with over 1,300 points. His last two seasons also saw Garrett earn All-Wisconsin Little Ten First Team honors as well as being named the conference’s Player of the Year. He was also a Division 2 All-State selection in his senior year.

Brandon Spray (Sauk Prairie HS), UW-Stevens Point - Honorable Mention WIAC

Like Blake and Garrett before him, Brandon saw his playing time increase this season and took every advantage. He was one of four Pointers to average double-digits in scoring while also averaging over six rebounds per game. Brandon was fifth in the conference averaging one block and over one steal per game.

In his prep career at Sauk Prairie, Brandon averaged over 10.7 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. He earned All-Badger-North First Team honors in both his junior and senior seasons. In just two seasons of varsity play, Brandon had 757 points and 379 rebounds.

Ethan Bublitz (Kettle Moraine Lutheran HS), UW-Stevens Point - First Team All-WIAC

Ethan capped off a stellar career at UW-Stevens Point, earning his third, First Team All-Conference selection in four seasons. Ethan started 97 games in his college career and averaged 13.3 points per game overall. On this past season, he finished fourth in conference, scoring 17.4 points per game. Ethan finished his career with over 1,300 career points.

At Kettle Moraine Lutheran, Ethan scored over 1,100 points as he earned All-Flyway Conference First Team honors in his last three seasons. In his senior season, he led the Chargers to a 21-3 record and was name a WBCA All-State First Team selection.

Kyle Tuma (Valders HS), UW-Platteville - Honorable Mention WIAC

In his second season at UW-Platteville, Kyle has already started 56 games. His sophomore season saw his scoring increase from 5.9 points to 10.8 points per game. He also increased every other statistical category from freshman to sophomore seasons. His shooting percentage splits were great as he shot 41% from the field, 43% from three, and 82% from the free throw line.

Kyle was a Peter Brookshaw made buzzer beater away from bringing Valders High School its first ever state championship in boys basketball during his senior season. He scored 35 points, including a go-ahead three with 10 seconds left, in the Division 3 State Championship game. In his last two seasons he was named an All-Eastern Wisconsin Conference First Team honoree. In his senior year he was a WBCA All-State selection and over the course of his prep career, finished with over 1,100 points and 400 rebounds.

Jon Ciriacks (East Troy HS), UW-Stout - Honorable Mention WIAC

Jon was named a WIAC Honorable Mention selection for the second straight season as he started all 25 games for Stout. In his junior season, Jon ranked in the top eight in the WIAC in both scoring and rebound, averaging 16 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Going into next season, Jon will need 262 points to surpass 1,000 in his career.

Between his junior and senior season, Jon took a leap that rocketed him from Honorable Mention All-Conference to First Team All-Rock Valley. His scoring output rose from 8.7 points his junior year to over 21 as a senior.

Cam Kuepers (Lakeside Lutheran HS), UW-Eau Claire - Honorable Mention WIAC

Cam became more of a scoring threat in his junior season for the Blugolds, leading to his Honorable Mention All-Conference nod. He scored over 11 points per game as the Blugolds finished 20-10 on the year. In the final nine games of the season, Cam scored in double figures in eight of them.

During his prep career, Cam scored 951 points in three varsity seasons, averaging 13.6 points per game. His senior year he led Lakeside to a 16-8 record and was named a Capitol-North First Team selection.

Spencer Page (Rice Lake HS), UW-Eau Claire - Honorable Mention WIAC

After not starting a game last season, Spencer earned his spot in the starting rotation where he averaged nearly 32 minutes of play a game. Over the course of the season, Spencer averaged 13 points, shooting very efficiently. He came very close to a 50/40/90 season after shooting 48% from the field, 42% from three, and 87% from the free throw line.

Spencer played two seasons on varsity amassing nearly 600 points total after averaging 15.3 points altogether. During his senior season, he averaged over 18 points per game as he was named an All-Big Rivers First Team selection.

Levi Borchert (Kimberly HS),  UW-Oshkosh - WIAC Newcomer of the Year

Levi burst onto the scene for the defending Division III National Champion Titans. In just his freshman season, he finished the year starting the last 12 games. He averaged over nine points and six rebounds per game while shooting an other-worldly 65% from the field. In addition to his WIAC Newcomer of the Year award, he was an Honorable Mention selection. Levi was also named the D3hoops.com All-Central Region Rookie of the Year.

At Kimberly, Levi was a dominant scorer at rebounder in the Fox Valley Association. He averaged over 12 points and 10 rebounds per game in his prep career, amassing 958 points and 759 rebounds. In his senior season, Levi was a First Team Fox Valley Association All-Conference selection and was also the conference’s Player of the Year. He was a WBCA Division 1 All-State selection his senior year.

Trent Jones (Dodgeville HS), Ripon College - Midwest Conference Player of the Year

Cappin off an incredible college career at Ripon, Trent led the team to a Midwest Conference Tournament title and 20-8 record overall. Along with his Player of the Year award, Trent was named a First Team All-Conference honoree for the first time. Along with conference recognition, he was named to the D3hoops.com All-Central Region Second Team as well as the NABC All-Central District First Team.

Trent was second in the conference in scoring, averaging 21 points per game. He added 5.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. Trent’s 56.7% shooting percentage was second in the conference and he led the league in steals. For his career, Trent scored over 1,200 points.

Just like in college, Trent was a prolific scorer at Dodgeville High School. He scored over 1,200 points in his prep career, averaging over 23 points his senior year. He was a two-time All-SWC selection, including being named the conference’s Player of the Year as a senior. Trent was a two-time Division 3 All-State Honorable Mention selection.

Joe Ciriacks (East Troy HS), St. Norbert College - First Team All-Midwest

St. Norbert finished 23-5 on the season and won the Midwest Conference regular season title behind the strong play of Joe. In his junior year, Joe was named Second Team All-Conference before earning the First Team honors this past season. He averaged 13.4 points per game for the first place Green Knights.

Teaming with brother Jon at East Troy High School, Joe helped lead East Troy to their third ever state tournament appearance during his junior season. Over the course of his three-year varsity career, Joe scored 950 points, averaging 13.4. During his senior campaign, he was named a First Team All-Rock Valley selection.

Connor Curtis (Green Bay Preble HS), St. Norbert College - First Team All-Midwest

For the second season in a row, Connor earned a First Team All-Conference nod. Like his teammate Joe, he averaged 13.4 points per game and added 5.8 rebounds. He shot over 59% from the field which led all of the Midwest Conference.

Connor spent most of his senior season in high school battling injuries, forcing him to miss half the season. The games he did play, he averaged over 18 points per game after averaging over 14 as a junior. As a junior he was named to the Fox River Classic First Team and garnered second team honors as a senior.

Tristan Shoup (Fort Atkinson HS), Beloit College - Second Team All-Midwest

Tristan came into his senior season already scoring over 1,100 points in his college career. After averaging over 16 points a game this past year, he finished with 1,526 career points. He added over 650 rebounds in his career as well. For the third straight season, Tristan was named an All-Midwest Conference Second Team selection.

At Fort Atkinson High School, Tristan was a two-time All-Badger-South selection. He received First Team recognition as a junior and Second Team as a senior. He averaged over 11 points a game during his prep career and scored 731 points total.
