Even though it was a non-conference contest that included an out-of-state team, the match-up between nationally ranked Minnehaha Academy of Minneapolis and La Crosse Central on February 1 at Mitchell Hall on the UW-La Crosse campus goes down as WisSports.net's most memorable game of the 2019-20 high school basketball season.

The contest, part of the annual Wisconsin vs. Minnesota Border Battle, attracted more than 3,000 fans and included incredible individual efforts from the stars of both teams.

In fact, you could make a strong case this contest included more high-level collegiate prospects than any other game played in Wisconsin during the season.

Minnehaha Academy's lineup included Gonzaga recruit Jalen Suggs, a 6-foot-5 point guard ranked among the top 10 players nationally in the 2020 class.

The Redhawks also boast junior Chet Holmgren, a big-time shot-blocker and surprisingly skilled 7-footer and top 10 national recruit in the 2021 class. University of Wisconsin football recruit Kaden Johnson (6-4) also played a big role for Minnehaha Academy.

La Crosse Central, of course, features University of Wisconsin recruits Johnny (6-5) and Jordan (6-5) Davis.

For the record, Minnehaha Academy pulled away late to register a 73-64 victory. But the outcome was in doubt for nearly 35 of the game's 36 minutes.

And the huge throng of noisy fans were plugged into the contest from opening tip until the very end, giving players on both teams something to remember for a long time.

Suggs finished with 28 points, Holmgren added 18 and Johnson contributed 11 for one of Minnesota's elite programs.

Johnny Davis was simply sensational all game for La Crosse Central as he poured in a game-high 42 points. Jordan Davis added 11 and potential NCAA Division I recruit Terrance Thompson, a muscular 6-foot-7 senior forward, added five for La Crosse Central.
