It's not often when 20-plus win teams matchup in a late season contest.

On February 20, Clear Lake (20-0) traveled to St. Croix Falls (21-0) in a Lakeland Crossover contest.

Clear Lake, ranked No. 2 in Division 5, earned a 46-39 victory over St. Croix Falls, ranked No. 7 in Division 3, to remain unbeaten.

St. Croix Falls held a 19-15 lead at the break before Clear Lake outscored the Saints 31-20 in the second half.

Clear Lake senior point guard Madison Zimmer finished with a game-high 25 points. She shot 6-for-14 from the floor, 4-for-8 from behind the arc and went 9-for-10 from the free throw line.

Zimmer also added nine rebounds and three assists in the victory for the Warriors.

Sophomore Maddie Rosen (6-0) and senior Maggie Rosen contributed nine and eight points, respectively, for coach Ryan Blanchard and the Warriors. Maddie added seven rebounds, and Maggie tallied five rebounds and two steals.

Senior Julianna Rosen (6-0) also played a key role in the win, finishing with four points, eight rebounds and five steals.

St. Croix Falls was led by junior Emily McCurdy, who finished with 16 points, five rebounds, two assists and five steals in the loss.

Juniors Olivia Miron (5-11) and Lucia Neuman added nine and eight points, respectively, for coach Angie Maternowsky and the Saints.

Miron added five assists and four rebounds for the Saints.

Clear Lake shot 15-for-40 from the field, 4-for-13 from behind the arc and made 12 of 20 free throws. The Warriors held a 36-20 rebounding advantage in the win, which helped offset 21 turnovers.

St. Croix Falls shot 10-for-33 from the field, 4-for-17 on 3-pointers and connected on 7-of-12 free throws. The Saints turned the ball over 18 times, three less than Clear Lake, but were nearly doubled up in rebounds which had a big impact on the outcome.

Clear Lake would finish the 2019-20 season with a 26-0 record. The Warriors reached the state tournament for second time in program history (1997) and were set to play Bangor in a Division 5 state semifinal before the tournament was canceled.

St. Croix Falls ended its season with a 24-2 record. The Saints finished one win away from the state tournament, falling to Arcadia, 52-49, in a Division 3 sectional final.
