The following profiles of high school basketball programs across Wisconsin include teams that either have overall winning streaks of at least 16 games or finished the 2019-20 campaign with undefeated league records.

Zane Langrehr

Bangor (57 in a row in Scenic Bluffs)
It's been more than four years since Bangor lost a boys' varsity basketball game in the Scenic Bluffs Conference. The Cardinals enter 2020-21 with a 57-game winning streak within league play. Their last loss in conference play came on February 18, 2016 when Hillsboro defeated Bangor, 64-61. Bangor went 24-2 overall in 2019-20 after losing to Blair-Taylor in a WIAA Division 5 sectional semifinal. Coach Jacob Pederson figures to have yet another high quality squad next winter with the return of all-league performers Zane Langrehr (6-2), Hank Reader (6-0), Mathieu Oesterle (5-11) and Will Reader (6-0).

Josh Bauer

Lourdes Academy (46 in a row in Trailways)
Since the formation of the Eastern Division of the Trailways Conference three years ago, Lourdes Academy has won all 42 league games it has played. Overall, the Knights enter the new season with 46 successive wins in the Trailways. Coach Dennis Ruedinger welcomes back three stellar performers off last year's club that went 22-3 in seniors-to-be Preston Ruedinger (6-2), Josh Bauer (6-1) and Jack McKellips (5-11).

Clear Lake (41 in a row in Lakeland Central)
The Warriors have won four straight championships in the Lakeland Central Conference and in the process coach Jason Sargent's program has won 41 consecutive league games. During the last four seasons, Clear Lake has won at least 20 games each year and 88 of 101 contests. The 2017-18 squad also qualified for the WIAA Division 4 State Tournament, losing in the semifinals to Marathon. With first-team all-league players Tyson Blanchard (6-3) and Tyler Peterson (6-5) returning in 2020-21, look for the Warriors to continue their recent success.

Chandler Schmidt

Stratford (33 in a row in Marawood South, 24 in a row overall)
The Tigers finished 16-0 in each of the past two seasons within the Marawood South Conference. During those two campaigns, coach Curt Schmidt's club won 48 of 49 contests with the lone loss coming to Wisconsin Dells in a WIAA Division 3 sectional semifinal game in 2019. The Tigers were sitting at 24-0 heading into their WIAA Division 4 sectional final game against Iola-Scandinavia before the virus ended things. Stratford loses five key players to graduation in Ben Barten (6-6), Vaughn Breit (6-5), Chandler Schmidt (6-3), Dawson Danen (6-3) and Teddy Redmann (6-0).

Kamari McGee

Racine St. Catherine's (31 in a row in Metro Classic, 25 in row overall)
Two-time defending Metro Classic Conference champion St. Catherine's has come out on top in its last 31 games in league play. The Angels also sat at 25-0 heading into its WIAA Division 3 sectional final against Kettle Moraine Lutheran. Coach Nick Bennett's squad was the choice of most to win the Division 3 state crown had the season played out, and he'll have another very good team next season with the return of the state's best trio of guards in seniors-to-be Tyrese Hunter (6-1), Kamari McGee (6-0) and Jameer Barker (6-2).

Gavin Ralph

Wauzeka-Steuben (31 in a row in Ridge & Valley)
The Hornets finished 14-0 in the Ridge & Valley Conference in each of the past two seasons and have won 31 straight in league play heading into the 2020-21 campaign. The play of two-time Player of the Year Carter Lomas, a skilled 6-foot-4 wing player headed to NCAA Division II Winona State, played a big role in the Hornets' success. Wauzeka-Steuben welcomes back a first-team all-league performer in Gavin Ralph (6-3), but maintaining its long conference winning string might be difficult next winter.

Brayden Dailey

Cuba City (25 in a row overall, 20 in a row in SWAL)
Along with Racine St. Catherine's and Stratford, Cuba City finished the recently completed season with an undefeated record. The Cubans had a 25-0 record and lots of momentum on their side entering their scheduled WIAA Division 4 sectional final with Markesan. Coach Jerry Petitgoue loses some key players to graduation in Parkside recruit Brady Olson and Stout recruit Jackson Noll. But he also welcomes back two outstanding class of 2021 prospects in wing Brayden Dailey (6-6) and forward Jack Misky (6-4).

Wisconsin Dells (23 in a row overall, 11 in a row in South Central)
Three-time defending South Central Conference champion Wisconsin Dells has won 29 of 30 league outings over the past three seasons. The Chiefs own an 11-game league winning streak heading into the 2020-21 season, but coach Brad Frohling must replace four all-league performers lost to graduation in Sam Millard (6-8), Bryson Funmaker (5-9), Brett Hirst (6-2) and Riley Eck (6-1). After losing to Hortonville in its second game of the 2019-20 season, Wisconsin Dells ran off 23 consecutive victories and had a 24-1 record heading into its WIAA Division 3 sectional final game with Prescott.

Sam Hytinen

Arrowhead (21 in a row in Classic Eight)
The Warhawks of Arrowhead High School have won their last 21 games in the Classic Eight Conference, one of the state's more competitive leagues. Coach Craig Haase's club went 16-0 this past season and won 13 of 16 league games two years ago, including the last five on their schedule. Of course, it helps to have an all-state player like Carter Gilmore in your lineup. The 6-foot-7 class of 2020 forward is headed to the University of Wisconsin to play basketball and is a two-time Player of the Year in the nine-team loop. With talented players Sam Hytinen (6-4), Mac Wrecke (6-4), Blake Ewer (6-5) and Jackson Raasch (6-0), among others, returning next year, the Warhawks look to again contend for the conference championship.

Matthew Waldera

Blair-Taylor (21 in a row in Dairyland)
Like 39 other boys' basketball teams across the state, Blair-Taylor was still playing when COVID-19 hit hard on March 12 and the WIAA opted to cancel the rest of the season. The Wildcats finished with a 24-2 record, including a 14-0 mark in the Small Schools Division of the Dairyland Conference. Coupled with their seven straight league triumphs at the end of the 2018-19 campaign, coach Randy Storlie's program enters next year on a 21-game league winning streak. The Wildcats move from the Small to the Large division of the Dairyland in the fall, but will do so with an extremely talented roster, led by returning double-figure scorers Matthew Waldera (6-5), Kyle Steien (6-2) and Alec Reismann (6-2).

Sheboygan Lutheran (19 in a row overall)
Sheboygan Lutheran went 27-2 and won the WIAA Division 5 state title in 2019 and then won 25 of 26 games last season heading into its sectional-final game with Randolph. The Crusaders won 19 straight contests after falling to Oostburg in a Big East Conference game in December. Sheboygan Lutheran loses Valparaiso recruit Jacob Ognacevic (6-8) to graduation, but coach Nick Verhagen welcomes back all of the other players who played significant minutes in 2019-20, making Sheboygan Lutheran a likely candidate to build on its winning streak.

Unity (19 in a row overall)
Unity lost three of its five contests and then rattled off 19 straight wins, including a triumph over Cameron in a WIAA Division 4 sectional semifinal. Unity was set to play Onalaska Luther in a sectional final before COVID-19 ended the season. The Eagles won the Lakeland West Conference title by one game over second-place Luck and boasted the Player of the Year in the league in senior Jaxon Flaherty (6-1).

Coach Agape Keys

Milwaukee Academy of Science (16 in a row overall)
The much anticipated potential WIAA Division 4 championship game between Milwaukee Academy of Science (21-3) and Cuba City (25-0) never materialized thanks to the virus, but MAS did finish the season with 16 wins in a row under coach Agape Keys. After falling to Madison West 70-64 on December 21, Academy of Science went on a tear, beating every team on its schedule the rest of the way behind strong play from Bradley University recruit Darius Hannah (6-9), Milwaukee recruit Kaleim Taylor (6-3) and electric class of 2021 prospect Donald McHenry (6-1). Included in the impressive victory march by MAS were wins over Martin Luther, Sheboygan South, Minneapolis North, Mosinee, Milwaukee Hamilton, Lourdes Academy and The Prairie School, among others.

David Joplin

Brookfield Central (18 in a row overall, 16 in a row in Greater Metro)
There might not have been a more difficult regular-season task last winter than finishing with an unbeaten record in the Greater Metro Conference, considered by most the most competitive league in Wisconsin in 2019-20. Yet, that is exactly what defending WIAA Division 1 state champion Brookfield Central accomplished under coach Dan Wandrey. The Lancers swept runner-up Sussex Hamilton in league play to win the conference title by two games over the Chargers. They were set to meet a third time in a sectional final before COVID-19 hit. Wandrey's club figures to build on its 16-game league-winning streak and 18-game victory chain in all games next season behind the return of three all-league performers in Ben Nau (6-2), David Joplin (6-7) and Andrew Rohde (6-4).

Peyton Kuhn

Medford (14 in a row in Great Northern)
Coach Ryan Brown guided the Raiders to a perfect mark in the Great Northern Conference as Medford won the league crown by three games over second-place Mosinee. Medford, who has won two league titles in the past four seasons, also won its final two league games two years ago and begins next season with 14 triumphs in a row in league play. Medford lost four starters from a club that went 19-5, but the Raiders' cupboard is far from bare as all-league guard Peyton Kuhn (6-0), promising sophomore Logan Baumgartner (6-3) and experienced seniors Ty Baker (6-0), Brady Hupf (6-3), Owen Wipf (5-9) and Nate Retterath (5-11) all return.

Milwaukee King (14 games in row in City Conference)
The Generals boasted a 22-0 record before falling by two points to Brookfield East in a WIAA Division 1 regional final. King's 12-0 record in the Milwaukee City Conference, coupled with its triumph in its final league game two years ago, gives the Generals a 13-game winning string in the City Conference heading into 2020-21. Coach Doug Lewis returns the Player of the Year in the league in guard Quinton Murell (6-4), and another first-team all-league performer in Rickey Bradley.

Peter Gustafson

Monticello (13 in a row in Six Rivers East)
Monticello surprised more than a few followers of Six Rivers Conference basketball this past winter by winning all 12 of its league outings in the Eastern Division. And although coach Mark Olson loses three all-league players to graduation, the chances of the Ponies building on their current 13-game league winning string are good, thanks in large part to the return of forward Peter Gustafson (6-3), who shared Player of the Year honors in the league with teammate Reece Rufer (6-3).

Sam Kick

Onalaska (13 in a row in Mississippi Valley Conference)
Defeating arch-rival La Crosse Central twice during Mississippi Valley Conference action helped Onalaska finish the 2019-20 campaign with a 12-0 league record. The Hilltoppers also won their final league outing two years ago and thus enter the new season with a 13-game league winning streak. Coach Craig Kowal's squad figures to be favored to successfully defend its league crown next winter behind the return of seniors-to-be Victor Desmond (6-6), Sam Kick (6-2) and Gavin McGrath (6-11).

Palmyra-Eagle (13 in a row in Trailways South)
Palmyra-Eagle's move from the Rock Valley to the Trailways a few years ago has paid huge dividends to the Panthers' basketball program. In fact, Palmyra-Eagle has won three straight Trailways South Conference titles and begins play next fall with a 13-game league winning streak. Palmyra-Eagle will build around returning first-team all-league forward Aiden Calderon (6-4).
