WIAA girls' basketball playoff changes for 2020-21

The WIAA has released girls' basketball divisional placement and sectional assignments for the 2020-21 season. 

Division 1
Division 2
Division 3
Division 4
Division 5

NOTABLE CHANGES

In Division 1, Appleton East moves to Sectional #1 after competing in Sectional #2 last season. Bay Port moves back to Sectional #2, the Pirates were in Sectional #1 last season and reached the state tournament. Green Bay Preble also moves from Sectional #1 to Sectional #2 for the 2020-21 season. Arrowhead moves to Sectional #2 after competing in Sectional #4 last season. Kettle Moraine, Mukwonago and Oconomowoc move from Sectional #4 to Sectional #3. 

The change that stands out in Division 2 is Waukesha West, a sectional finalist in Sectional #3 last season, moving to Sectional #4, which was won by Pewaukee last season. 

Brookfield Academy, a sectional finalist in Division 4 last season, moves up to Division 3 and is placed in Sectional #4, which was won by Lake Mills last season. 

Marshall, D3 state champions in 2018 and 2019, drop to Division 4 for the 2020-21 season. The Cardinals are placed in Sectional #3, which is the same sectional as two-time defending state champion Aquinas. Wittenberg-Birnamwood joins the division (D3 last season) and is placed in Sectional #2, which was won by Crandon last season. 

River Ridge, a sectional finalist in Division 5 last season, moves up to Division 4.
