The 2019-20 high school sports season will forever be remembered as the one that was cut short due to COVID-19. That doesn't take away from the amazing seasons that were had in the time being. The 2019-20 WSN Cup sees two familiar faces repeat while a first-time winner ascend in the Medium Schools Division.

With both basketball seasons being cut short, the boys points were allocated up to the sectional final qualifying round. Girls state teams that played their semi-final games were awarded 90 points for a win and 70 for a loss. Those teams that didn't play their games at state, were awarded the 60 points.

Middleton's strong winter season propelled the school to their second consecutive first place finish in the Large Schools Division. For the first time in the WSN Cup's history, a public school has taken home the trophy in the Medium Schools Division as Shorewood came away in first place. For the second consecutive season Madison Edgewood won the Small Schools Division after six previous Medium School wins.

The WSN Cup is in its 13th year, recognizing schools that provide and achieve success in many of the WIAA sponsored sports. The award totals points earned in both boy's and girl's sports. All current WIAA sponsored sports are included as part of the scoring for the award.

For the second consecutive season, Middleton took home the WSN Cup Large School Division trophy. In a shortened school year, Middleton had the best winter sports season of those in the Large Division. They defended their title by accumulating 585.43 points, edging out 11 time winner Arrowhead by 31.43.

During the fall season, the Cardinals sat at third in the standings with 382 points, 10 behind Arrowhead and just over 30 of Brookfield East. A state title in both girls golf and boys cross country highlighted the fall season along with a fourth place finish in girls cross country and sixth place finish in girls swim and dive. Despite the shortened winter season, Middleton was the only large school to score over 200 points as they took home a state title in boys swim and dive. The girls basketball team also won their sectional final game and were searching for their first ever gold ball.

The Cardinals scored the most points across any division as they accumulated 585.43. They held off Arrowhead who came in second with 554, while Brookfield East, Muskego, and Brookfield Central rounded out the top five.
