The Oak Creek Knights have been selected as the Week 1 WSN Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WSN. The team shutout the high-flying Kenosha Indian Trail Hawks to open the season. The Knights were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 1. A total of 5,593 votes were cast, as Oak Creek's 1,836 votes edged Hortonville's 1,692 votes.

Oak Creek had a formidable task in Week 1, taking on a Kenosha Indian Trail team loaded with offensive talent. However, it was Oak Creek who looked like a potential challenge to Franklin in the Southeast Conference, dominating defensively in a 13-0 shutout of the Hawks. The Oak Creek defense picked off Indian Trail quarterback Argjent Ismaili twice, holding him under 100 passing yards on 23 attempts. Gabe Buchman and Cade Palkowski scored rushing touchdowns for the Knights, as Palkowski went for 103 yards on 22 carries.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite team can be named WSN Team of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 2 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
