Dominick McVay of Mineral Point has been selected as the Week 2 Player of the Week following a statewide vote on WisSports.net. His big day helped the Pointers secure a win over Lake Mills in the WSN Game of the Week. He was chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 2. A total of 10,397 votes were cast, as McVay's 3,979 were enough to edge second place A.J. Arndt of Hartford, who tallied 3,943 votes.
The WSN Week 2 Game of the Week certainly lived up to the billing, as Mineral Point topped Lake Mills in a 44-36 shootout. Appropriately, the game started with a bang as Dominick McVay returned the opening kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown. After a Lake Mills score in the second quarter, McVay did it again on a 90-yard kick return score. He'd add a 50-yard touchdown before halftime as well. We only wish the full game stats were available for this one so we could paint a more full picture of McVay's impact.
Remember folks, the only way your favorite player can be named WisSports.net Player of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 3 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
