WisSports.net Week 4 Player of the Week Nominees

Simon Bauer, Durand

Durand had an outstanding battle with rival Mondovi Friday night, as the Panthers would respond to a couple Mondovi rallies with a 33-27 overtime victory. Durand led 14-0 in the second quarter as Simon Bauer scored on a couple short touchdowns. Bauer would also account for the final score, a one-yard touchdown plunge in overtime that gave Durand the victory. For the game, he carried the ball 29 times for 144 yards and four rushing touchdowns, adding a 16-yard receiving score as well to account for all five Durand touchdowns.

Kyle Brewster, Edgar

Brewster had an extremely efficient day as the Wildcats hammered Thorp 47-6 on Friday. The 6'0", 180-pound senior carried the ball three times for 123 yards and two touchdowns, and caught three passes for 70 yards, all going for scores. Five touchdowns on six offensive touches. He added a couple tackles on defense and handled the punting duties for the Wildcats as well.

Jon Mathieu, Sheboygan Falls

Sheboygan Falls remained unbeaten on the season with a 29-8 win over new East Central Conference foe Berlin on Friday night. Berlin actually led 8-0 after the first quarter, but Sheboygan Falls running back Jon Mathieu would score the first of his four touchdowns to help tie it heading into halftime. He'd add three more scores the rest of the way to help secure the victory for the Falcons. Mathieu would finish with 33 carries for 366 yards and those four scores. He also recorded the only reception in the game for the Falcons and tied for the team lead with 10 tackles.

Richie Murphy, Cameron

Cameron ended a 22-game overall losing streak and 18-game conference slide with a 35-13 win over Saint Croix Falls on Friday. Richie Murphy was all over the field to help the Comets secure the victory. He completed just six-of-15 pass attempts for 42 yards, but did throw a touchdown pass and a couple two-point conversions. He did more damage with his legs on offense, rushing 15 times for 131 yards. His impact wasn't limited to offense, however. Over on defense, he had a pair of fumble recoveries, including one that was returned returned 70 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter. He also had two interceptions, one that came in the end zone to stop a Saint Croix Falls drive and a one-handed pick to end Falls' final possession.

Jackson Pettit, Saint Croix Central

Jackson Pettit of Saint Croix Central has been one of the state's top kickers for several seasons, but this year he's branched out to have an impact in all areas of the game. In a game that saw three lead changes in the fourth quarter alone, Saint Croix Central managed to secure a 31-27 win over Division 3, fifth-ranked Onalaska. Pettit was four-for-four on extra points and made a 27-yard field goal while putting a couple kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks. He also was the team's leading receiver, catching four passes for 102 yards and a fourth quarter touchdown. Pettit also recorded four tackles on defense in the victory.
