Week 4 WisSports.net Team of the Week Nominees

Amherst Falcons

Division 5 second-ranked Amherst at D5 third-ranked Stratford was the Game of the Week on WisSports.net, but the majority of people who responded to the poll would end up getting the outcome wrong. That's because Amherst went ahead early and never looked back in a 28-13 victory that put them in the driver's seat in the CWC-Large. Bryan Groshek and Tristan Schelvan combined for 198 rushing yards and three scores, as Schelvan also threw a touchdown pass in the game.

Baraboo Thunderbirds

The Baraboo Thunderbirds and Reedsburg Beavers met for the 133rd time on Friday night, and amazingly entered with the series deadlocked at 62-62-6. Baraboo made sure they left with the series lead, knocking off Reedsburg 24-0. The Baraboo ground game behind running back Owen Nachtigal and quarterback Luna Larson rackd up 251 yards and three scores, while they limited Reedsburg to just 57 rushing yards on 40 attempts. The Thunderbirds also got a 41-yard fumble return touchdown from Quinn Mueller to move to 3-1 on the season.

Blair-Taylor Wildcats

Blair-Taylor remained unbeaten and took over first place in the Dairyland Conference with a come-from-behind 22-19 win over Pepin/Alma Friday night. The Wildcats trailed 13-0 at halftime and 19-8 early in the fourth quarter before quarterback Cain Fremstad guided a comeback. He threw a 35-yard touchdown to Kyle Steien to get the team within a score, then plunged in from a yard out only a few minutes later to provide the final margin. He had 215 yards of total offense, while Matthew Brandenburg ran for 112 yards and a touchdown while adding four catches for 45 yards.

Catholic Memorial Crusaders

Catholic Memorial's grinder of a schedule continued, as the Division 4 top-ranked Crusaders took on Division 3's second-ranked team Grafton. It was the visiting Black Hawks that got on the board first with a Cannon Pfaff 38-yard touchdown run late in the opening quarter. However, it was all Catholic Memorial from that, as the Crusaders rebounded to take a 21-7 advantage into halftime before pulling away for a 42-7 running clock victory. Quarterback Rory Fox rebounded with a strong performance, throwing for 201 yards and two touchdowns. Obacoso Allen had his first big game of the year, carrying it 28 times for 164 yards and three scores. The defense limited Grafton to just 176 yards of offense in the game.

Highland Cardinals

Highland's defense had been outstanding this year, but it was the offense that spear-headed a 32-27 comeback win over Potosi/Cassville in a matchup of unbeaten top ten teams in Division 7. Quarterback Justin Miller helped orchestrate things, completing 16-of-30 passes for 244 yards and three touchdowns, including what turned out to be the game-winning 10-yard score to Isaac Michek. While the defense did allow 365 rushing yards to Potosi/Cassville, they also recorded two key interceptions.
