Lake Country Lutheran picked up a game late in the week against Wauwatosa East, a much larger school that has looked pretty solid this year. The defending Division 5 state champion Lightning trailed 28-22 heading into the fourth quarter, but quarterback Luke Haertle helped rally the troops. He threw a touchdown to Gunnar Grosenick to put Lake Country Lutheran on top, then ran for two more scores in the final period to give the team a cushion as they held on for a 44-36 victory. He completed 16-of-29 passes in the game for 266 yards and four touchdowns, adding a pair of rushing scores. He was the leader defensively also, recording 19 tackles and three pass break-ups. Haertle was also two-for-two on extra points, ran for a couple two-point conversions, and passed for one as well.

Richland Center's program has struggled to gain traction in recent years, as the Hornets haven't been to the playoffs since Bradie Ewing led them there in 2007. Things seem to be improving under Richland Center alum Andy Troxel, who guided the team to its first victory of the year on Friday, a 35-0 running clock win over Dodgeville. Junior running back Bryce Hillers was difficult to contain, as the 6'0", 190-pounder carried the ball 14 times for 208 yards and three touchdowns for the Hornets. He also handled the punting, kickoff, and kicking duties.

Turtle Lake rebounded from its first loss of the season with a dominating 52-12 victory over Elmwood/Plum City on Friday. The Lakers led just 22-12 at halftime, but Kahl connected on four touchdown passes in the third quarter, all from at least 23 yards, to open up the game and send it to a running clock final. He joined older brother Jonah Kahl in the state history books with seven touchdown passes, which is tied for fifth all-time (four others have thrown eight touchdowns). Kahl completed 17-of-22 passes for 318 yards and was also the team's leading rusher with 28 yards on the ground.

Waukesha West showed once again just how good and deep the Classic Eight Conference is, as the Wolverines entered Friday night's showdown with Division 1, third-ranked Arrowhead just 1-2 on the season. However, West closed things out in the second half en route to a 31-13 road victory over the Warhawks. Devon Townsend was a workhorse, carrying the ball 34 times for 191 yards and three touchdowns. Two of those scores came in the first half as the Wolverines built a 14-7 halftime advantage.

Auburndale made the decision shortly before the year began to move to 8-Player Football this year, but due to the late change the Eagles were not able to fill their schedule fully. To make sure they did not miss opportunities, they have scheduled a couple of 11-player games, including a contest against Thorp last weekend. Auburndale cruised to a 61-12 victory, as senior Hunter Wright was all over the field. He completed six-of-12 passes for 164 yards and three touchdowns, adding seven carries for 80 yards and three more scores. Wright also had two interceptions on defense, returning them for a total of 105 yards with one touchdown. He was seven-for-seven on extra points and handled kickoff duties as well for the Eagles and head coach Jay Anderson.
