WSN Athlete of the Week: October 19-25

Below are the WSN Athlete of the Week Nominees for the week of October 19 through 25. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

WSN Athlete of the Week Nominees: Oct. 19-25

Jacy Weisbrod, Aquinas girls volleyball: Aquinas is coming off a runner-up finish at state last season in Division 3 and looking to get right back, this time up a division. Junior Jacy Weisbrod helped lead her squad to a pair of wins and a regional title. First in a 3-0 sweep of Black River Falls, she had 14 kills, nine digs, and two aces. Jacy followed that up with a team high 21 kills as the Blugolds knocked off top seed West Salem 3-1.

Olivia Breunig, Sauk Prairie girls volleyball: The Sauk Prairie girls had a great season and came into the tournament as a five seed. Olivia and the Eagles rattled off three straight wins en route to a regional final championship. First in a 3-0 sweep of Watertown, she 11 kills, 13 assists, and seven digs. She followed it up with 12 kills, 15 digs, and 10 assists as the Eagles won over top seed Oconomowoc 3-1. Olivia then had 14 kills, 14 digs, and 21 assists as Sauk Prairie beat Arrowhead 3-1 in the regional final.

Patrick Daniels, Marquette football: Marquette improved to 3-0 on the season with a 31-24 win over Sussex Hamilton this past Saturday as Patrick put on a workhorse type of performance. He carried the ball a whopping 41 times en route to 283 yards and a pair of touchdowns. To add to his performance, he completed the only pass he attempted for 26 yards.

Charlie Kulick, Pacelli boys soccer: Pacelli came into regional play sporting the sixth seed in their seven team regional. Charlie willed the team to a pair of wins and a regional title. First in a 5-1 win over three-seed Nekoosa, he netted three goals and added an assist. Charlie then netted the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Newman Catholic to advance Pacelli to sectional play.

Ray Beilman, Elkhorn boys soccer: top-seeded Elkhorn only had one match to advance to sectional play, but they did so with a convincing win. The Elks took down Westosha Central 6-0 as Ray was all over the field. Ray netted a hat trick to help Elkhorn take home a regional title.
