Aquinas won the first three games of the 2020 season, but against larger competition from former Mississippi Valley foes the Blugolds lost the final three. Seeded fourth, they traveled to take on top-seeded Darlington on Friday, and they'd come away with one of the upsets of the night in a 34-25 victory. Darlington led 13-12 at halftime, but Aquinas scored 22 straight points to build a lead they'd hang on to despite a furious Darlington rally. Quarterback Jackson Flottmeyer threw for 167 yards and two scores, while a balanced rushing attack accounted for 199 yards and three touchdowns.

Oak Creek lost to Kenosha Bradford 35-20 during the regular season, but the Knights had a chance to avenge that defeat in Level 1 of the WIAA postseason. Oak Creek jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter on two long Zach Peterson runs, but it was just 14-10 heading into the fourth quarter. The Knights got some breathing room when Cade Palkowski went in from three yards out and they'd hang on for a 20-17 victory. Peterson finished with 16 carries for 201 yards and two scores.

The Richland Center Hornets exercised several demons on Friday in a 40-0 running clock shutout at Wisconsin Dells. It was the team's first postseason appearance since the Bradie Ewing-led season of 2007. It also marked Richland Center's first playoff victory since the 1992 season. Junior running back Bryce Hillers got the scoring started with a seven-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, and the Hornets scored a short time later when Gus Donovan recovered a blocked punt in the end zone. Hillers would add three more rushing touchdowns in the game, finishing with 23 carries for 200 yards and four touchdowns.

Saint Croix Falls lost to Bloomer 34-28 to open the season and had several other tough losses in the middle of the year to finish 3-4. The Saints would receive a four-seed, where they'd get another shot at top-seeded Bloomer. This time, Saint Croix Falls never trailed in a close game that saw the Saints hold on for a 28-26 victory. The passing game struggled, with two interceptions on three attempts, but Saint Croix Falls' running game was outstanding, accounting for 307 yards on 50 attempts. Most of that came from Dayo Oye, who carried the ball 28 times for 177 yards and two scores.

Shawano isn't exactly a football powerhouse, as the Hawks' playoff appearance this year is just the fifth in school history, though all have come since 2009. Shawano did complete a huge step for the program however, winning its first-ever playoff game in a 46-6 domination of Marinette. Quarterback Gage Timm completed eight-of-13 passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns, adding 63 yards and two scores on the ground as well.
