The Richland Center Hornets have been selected as the Level 1 WSN Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WSN. The team scored its first playoff win since 1992 last week against Wisconsin Dells. The Hornets were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Level 1. A total of 3,959 votes were cast, as Richland Center's 1,431 votes edged Shawano's 903 votes.

The Richland Center Hornets exercised several demons on Friday in a 40-0 running clock shutout at Wisconsin Dells. It was the team's first postseason appearance since the Bradie Ewing-led season of 2007. It also marked Richland Center's first playoff victory since the 1992 season. Junior running back Bryce Hillers got the scoring started with a seven-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, and the Hornets scored a short time later when Gus Donovan recovered a blocked punt in the end zone. Hillers would add three more rushing touchdowns in the game, finishing with 23 carries for 200 yards and four touchdowns.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite team can be named WSN Team of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Level 1 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
