Nate Abel, Beaver Dam boys basketball: Beaver Dam has started the season off 9-0 behind the strong play of Abel. Last week, the Golden Beavers picked up a 79-75 win over Oshkosh North and needed every bit of Abel's 41 points in the process. The senior guard and Michigan Tech commit is averaging 22 points per game this season.

Travis Kohlman, Kiel boys basketball: Kohlman put together quite the holiday season of hoops last week as he led Kiel to a pair of victories. First in an 85-61 win over Random Lake, he recorded 28 points, six rebounds and four assists. The 6'2" guard then had a career high 43 points in a 77-61 win over Manitowoc Lutheran. Kohlman finished with 12 of 20 from beyond the arc in the victory.

Olivia Miron, St. Croix Falls girls basketball: St. Croix Falls, ranked seventh in Division 3 in the WSN Coaches Poll, squared off with Prescott who was ranked fifth in the same poll. The Saints came away with a 62-35 win behind a game high 17 points from Miron. She followed that up with 27 points and 10 rebounds in a 69-41 victory over Osceola.

Kylie Schmidt, Mishicot girls basketball: Mishicot trounced Manitowoc Lutheran 65-8 last week in their only game over the holiday break. Schmidt recorded her second double-double in as many games with 19 points and 10 rebounds. In doing so, the Purdue Northwest commit became the program's all-time leading scorer with 1,237 career points. She only needs 107 more points to become the all-time scorer in either boys or girls basketball in the school history.

Lindsay Steien, Blair-Taylor girls basketball: For the longest time, 66 games to be exact, Melrose-Mindoro has dominated the Dairyland Conference in girls basketball. Last week, Blair-Taylor handed them their first conference loss in 67 games behind a game high 28 points from Steien.
