Ziebell and Nimz with big games

Allie Ziebell, Neenah -- Ziebell scored a career-high 35 points in a 71-51 win over Oshkosh West. The 6-foot freshman wing shot 7-for-13 from the floor, 9-for-10 from the free throw line, and 4-for-6 from 3-point land, and added four rebounds, two assists and two steals in the win. Ziebell, who holds a number of Division I offers, is averaging 19.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 2.0 steals per game for coach Andy Braunel and the Rockets (13-4 overall, 11-3 in FVA), ranked No. 10 in last week's Division 1 WSN Coaches Poll

Alyssa Nimz, Catholic Memorial -- Nimz had a pair of 30-point games last week. She finished with 36 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block in an 82-65 win over Mukwonago on January 19. Nimz shot 9-for-18 from the field, 6-for-8 at the free throw line and 4-for-9 from three. In a 61-53 loss to Waukesha West on Saturday, Nimz tallied 33 points, eight rebounds and two assists. She went 9-for-17 from the floor, made nine of 10 free throws, and went 2-for-4 on 3-pointers. Nimz, a 6-foot-1 Northern Michigan signee, is averaging 19.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.8 blocks per game for coach Nikki Nellen and the Crusaders (12-6 overall, 6-5 in the Classic Eight), ranked No. 8 in last week's Division 2 WSN Coaches Poll.

Black Hawk extends win streak to 67 games

Black Hawk defeated Waunakee, 62-47, on Saturday to extend its winning streak to 67 games. 

Senior Bailey Butler, a UW-Green Bay signee, finished with 22 points, five rebounds, seven assists and three steals in the win. The 5-foot-8 point guard is averaging state-highs in points (29.9) and assists (8.8) per game to go along with 6.6 steals per game (3rd-most in the state). 

Fellow seniors Makayla Mau (6-1) and Kaylee Marty (5-5) added 14 and 10 points, respectively, for coach Mike Flanagan and the Warriors. 

Coach Flanagan earned win number 300 two days earlier when Black Hawk cruised to an 87-25 win over Monticello. 

The Warriors, the top-ranked team in the Division 5 WSN Coaches Poll, are now 13-0 on the season and are now tied with Barneveld (1998-2000) for the fifth-longest winning streak in girls' basketball state history

Black Hawk can tie New London (68 games, 2011-13) for fourth on the list with a win over Barneveld tonight. Pius XI Catholic's 70-game win streak that spanned from 1984-87 is next on the illustrious list. 

Additions to 1,000-Point Club

Madison Couey, Riverdale -- Couey scored her 1,000th career point in a 70-65 win over Wisconsin Heights on January 18. The senior guard finished 19 points, including three 3-pointers in the victory. Couey is averaging 16.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per contest for coach Todd McKay and the Chieftains (7-7 overall). Riverdale is on quarantine for the rest of the regular season. 

Kara Troxel, Bonduel -- Troxel joined the 1,000-point club in a 70-29 victory against Menominee Indian on January 19. The 5-foot-6 senior guard tallied 17 points, five rebounds, two assists and three steals in the win. Troxel is averaging 15.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.3 steals per game for coach Jerry Reinke and the 15-0 Bears, ranked No. 10 in the Week 7 Division 3 WSN Coaches Poll. 

Rebecca Lawrence, Rhinelander -- Lawrence netted her 1,000th career point on January 19 in a 56-43 win over Ashland. The 5-foot-9 senior guard finished the game with 20 points. Lawrence is averaging 23 points per game for coach Ryan Clark and the Hodgas, 12-10 overall and 7-3 in the Great Northern. 

Naomi Breunig, Sauk Prairie -- Breunig eclipsed 1,000 career points on January 21 in a 56-36 loss to D2 No. 10 Edgewood. The 5-foot-10 senior wing/guard finished the game with 13 points. Breunig, an NCAA Division II Winona State signee, is averaging 12.8 points per game for the Eagles (7-6 overall). 

Natalie Jens, Beaver Dam -- Jens surpassed 1,000 career points in a 59-51 win over previously unbeaten Wausau West on January 22. The 5-foot-7 senior guard scored three points in limited minutes due to an ankle injury. Jens, an NCAA Division II Minnesota State Moorhead signee, is averaging 15.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 5.2 assists per contest for coach Tim Chase and the 18-1 Golden Beavers, ranked No. 6 in last week's Division 1 WisSports.net Coaches Poll. 

Haley Rens, Laconia -- Rens netted her 1,000th career point in a 76-42 victory over North Fond du Lac on January 22. The 5-foot-5 guard tallied 16 points, two assists and two steals in the win. Rens is averaging 15.6  points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.2 steals per contest for coach Chris Morgan and the Spartans, 14-5 overall and 8-1 in the Flyway. 

Lindsay Kirby, St. Thomas More -- Kirby joined the 1,000-point club on January 23 in a 73-54 loss to Racine Lutheran. The 5-foot-9 guard finished the game with 20 points, five rebounds, two steals and a block. Kirby is averaging 19.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.2 blocks per game for coach Brian Krysiak and the Cavaliers (8-8 overall, 5-6 in the Metro Classic).
