VNN Athlete of the Week: January 18-24

Below are the VNN Athlete of the Week Nominees for the week of January 18 through 24. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

VNN Athlete of the Week Nominees: Jan. 18-24

Hayden Doyle, Brookfield East boys basketball: The Brookfield East boys basketball team came into this week ranked second in Division 1 in the WSN Coaches Poll. Doyle had a huge week as the Spartans picked up three more impressive victories, standing at 15-2 on the year. In an 81-53 win over Marquette, he had 28 points and followed it up with 19 points in an 84-73 win over Sussex Hamilton. The 6'2" senior finished with a huge 40 points as Brookfield East beat Division 1, sixth-ranked Menomonee Falls.

Ashton Janowski, Pewaukee boys basketball: The Pewaukee boys basketball team picked up a huge pair of victories over the third and sixth ranked teams in Division 2 in the WSN Coaches Poll this past week. First in a rematch against Woodland Conference rival Wisconsin Lutheran, Janowski finished with 21 points, including hitting the game winning fadeaway with a little under ten seconds left. He followed that up with 23 points as they downed Notre Dame 78-70.

Lily Krahn, Prairie du Chien girls basketball: Prairie du Chien matched up with SWC foe Dodgeville in a pair of games this week and came away with two blowout victories. Krahn led all scorers in each game, scoring 18 points in the first 70-31 win. The Division 1 recruit then had 24 points in the 66-41 win over Dodgeville. She averaged five assists in the two victories as well.

Allie Ziebell, Neenah girls basketball: Neenah picked up a pair of Fox Valley Association conference wins behind the strong play of Ziebell. First in a 68-25 blowout of Oshkosh North, she scored 16 points. In the following 71-51 win over Oshkosh West, the Division 1 recruit she finished with a career high 35 points.

McKayla Zilisch, Fox Cities Stars girls hockey: Zilisch has been dominant all season on the ice as she leads the state in both goals (35) and points scored (59) according to Wisconsin Prep Hockey. Last week in an 11-1 win over Northern Edge, she netted five goals and assisted on two more. The 5'7" junior followed that incredible performance up with a goal and an assist in a 2-2 tie with Northland Pines.
