One of the top contenders for the state's Mr. Basketball award, Joplin was outstanding last week while helping Brookfield Central to a 2-1 record against three of state's top teams. On Tuesday, the Texas recruit scored 29 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and had three blocked shots in a 77-68 loss to Wauwatosa East. Joplin then made four clutch foul shots in the closing minute of Friday's 60-59 victory over Brookfield East. Team of the Week

Jackson Paveletzke

Kimberly Papermakers
Coach Lucky Wurtz's squad went a long way last week toward earning Kimberly's third straight Fox Valley Association title, posting impressive victories over Oshkosh West (67-24), Neenah (87-71) and Fond du Lac (75-58). The triumph at top-ranked Neenah on Friday pulled the Papermakers even with the Rockets in the loss column in the FVA standings. Junior guard Jackson Paveletzke (6-1) led the way for Kimberly with 28 points and nine rebounds. Senior Jackson Dudek (6-6) added 19 points and senior Brett Peronne (6-4) contributed 16 as Kimberly avenged a 62-56 loss to Neenah on December 18. Paveletzke, one of the state's top junior prospects, continued his outstanding play with a 30-point effort on Saturday in a victory over Fond du Lac. Senior Grant Asman (6-10) added 13 points in the win over the Cardiinals. Kimberly is 16-2 and has an extremely busy final week of the regular season, playing Hortonville on Monday and Tuesday, Appleton West on Thursday and Appleton East on Saturday.

Coach of the Week

Randy Storlie, Blair-Taylor
Randy Storlie became the eighth coach in state boys' basketballl history to reach 600 career victories on Friday when Blair-Taylor recorded a 71-37 victory over Alma/Pepin. Now in his 32nd year as head coach at Blair-Taylor, Storlie is the second coach to reach 600 victories this season as Dominican's Jim Gosz accomplished the feat last month. Storlie's club posted a 62-34 non-league win over Royall on Saturday to improve to 18-1. That triumph was the 14th in a row for the Wildcats since they dropped a 61-57 decision to Cashton on December 18. With a victory over Augusta on Monday, Storlie's team will lock up an undisputed title in the Dairyland Large Conference. Storlie, whose career mark now stands at 601-270, has guided the Wildcats to the WIAA State Tournament eight times, finishing second in 2014.
