WBCA announces Division 2 Girls Basketball All-State Team

Sammy Opichka of Notre Dame, Kamy Peppler of Hortonville, and Maty Wilke of Beaver Dam highlight the 2021 WBCA Division 2 all-state team as repeat selections. 

Opichka helped lead Notre Dame (28-1) to the Division 2 state title, beating Reedsburg in the championship game. The 6-foot University of St. Thomas signee averaged 17.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 2.8 steals and 1.4 blocks per contest for coach Sara Rohde and the Tritons. 

Peppler led Hortonville to a 17-9 record and Division 1 sectional final appearance, falling to state runner-up Hudson. The 5-foot-6 UW-Milwaukee commit averaged 14.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.0 steals per game for coach Celeste Ratka and the Polar Bears. 

Wilke is a three-time WBCA all-state selection and earned honorable mention recognition as a freshman. The 5-foot-10 University of Wisconsin signee averaged 21.8 points per game in a year that was cut short due to a torn ACL Wilke finished her career with 1,299 points (most in school history) for coach Tim Chase and the Golden Beavers. 

Nikki Dienberg of New Berlin Eisenhower (24-5) led the Lions to a state tournament appearance. The 5-foot-7 point guard averaged 13.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.6 steals per contest for coach Andy Monfre and the Lions. Dienberg also made 40 of 100 from 3-point land. 

Olivia Gamoke led Onalaska to the program's second state tournament appearance. The 5-foot-6 University of Sioux Falls signee averaged 20.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3.9 steals per game for coach Shane Schmeling and the Hilltoppers, which finished the year with a 17-4 record. Gamoke also shot 55-for-128 from behind the arc. 

Gracie Grzesk helped Notre Dame claim the Division 2 state title. The 5-foot-11 freshman averaged 12 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game for coach Rohde and the Tritons, which ended the year with a 28-1 record. 

Sarah Hardwick helped Notre Dame claim the program's fourth gold ball. The 5-foot-11 forward averaged 11.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.6 steals per contest for coach Rohde and the Tritons (28-1). 

Natalie Jens, an honorable mention pick last season, helped lead Beaver Dam to a Division 1 sectional appearance, falling to eventual state champion Germantown. The 5-foot-7 guard averaged 16.5 points and 4.4 assists per contest for coach Chase and the Golden Beavers. Jens, a Minnesota State Moorhead signee, also made 45 three-pointers. 

Mahra Wieman, an honorable mention choice last season, led Reedsburg to the program's first-ever trip to a state championship game, falling to Notre Dame in the D2 title game. The 5-foot-10 junior averaged 21.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game for coach Mark Simon and the Beavers, which finished the year with a 20-2 record. 

Chloe Van Zeeland, an honorable mention selection last season, led Kaukauna to a 17-8 record. The 6-foot-2 Illinois State signee averaged 15.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 2.7 steals and 1.6 blocks per contest for coach Joe Russom and the Galloping Ghosts.
