Jayden Jackson of Whitefish Bay has been selected as the top senior Defender as part of the WSN Senior Basketball Awards.

Jackson scored more than 1,500 points during his four-year varsity career at Whitefish Bay, but it was his bulldog mentality on defense that separated the NCAA Division I recruit for Northern Arizona apart from others.

Jackson often guarded the opponent's top player, particularly at crunch time. The sturdy 6-foot-3 backcourt ace also played in the middle of the Blue Dukes' zone defense in part because of his ability to communicate so well on the floor with his teammates along with his ability to see what was happening a play or two before it actually took place.

Jackson also spearheaded the multiple press defenses coach John Ricciardi employed throughout the season.

Jackson averaged 19.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.8 steals en route to earning Player of the Year honors in the North Shore Conference and helping the Blue Dukes to a 21-4 record and share of the league title with Cedarburg.

Finalists for the award were Jackson, Charlie Bender of Lake Mills, Hayden Doyle of Brookfield East, Kobe Johnson of Nicolet and Kamari McGee of Racine St. Catherine's.

Past winners of the award include Keonte Jones of Madison East (2020), Lucas Stieber of Green Bay Southwest (2019), Jordan Dinsmore of Milwaukee Washington (2018), Chris Knight of Madison Memorial (2017), Kostas Antetokounmpo of Dominican (2016), Dwayne Lawhorn Jr. of Germantown (2015), Jordan Shea of Lodi (2014), Bronson Koenig of Aquinas (2013), and Zak Showalter of Germantown (2012).

WSN Senior Basketball Awards are selected by WisSports.net staff.
