Bay Port lost 2019 WFCA Large Schools Offensive Player of the Year Isaiah Gash to graduation, but certainly have a capable fill-in taking over in senior Matt Grzybowski. He ran for more than 800 yards playing behind and filling in for Gash in 2019, and is off to a huge start to this alternate spring season. The Pirates got quite a ballgame from Stevens Point on Thursday, as the Panthers jumped out to a 14-0 first quarter lead before Bay Port pulled ahead 15-14 at halftime. Bay Port's lead was just 22-20 heading into the fourth quarter, when Grzybowski ran for three touchdowns in a span of less than six minutes to put the game out of reach in a 49-20 Bay Port victory. He finished with 26 carries for 160 yards and four touchdowns on the day, and returned the second half kickoff 85-yards for a score.

Benton/Scales Mound (IL)/Shullsburg was impressive in taking down Fennimore 53-24 on Thursday, blowing open what had been a competitive game in the third quarter to finish in a running clock. Senior Chandler Kelly of BSMS showed off his versatility, scoring a couple different ways for the Knights. Kelly caught a 63-yard touchdown in the second quarter and ran for a 71-yard touchdown in the fourth. He finished the game with eight carries for 98 yards and a touchdown, adding two catches for 80 yards as well.

There was no shortage of offense in Appleton North's 38-31 win over Ashwaubenon on Thursday, as the teams combined for more than 900 yards. Appleton North got a big game from junior running back Cal Martine, who carried the ball 28 times for 238 yards and three touchdowns. He opened the scoring with a two-yard touchdown plunge, and his 76-yard touchdown run in the third quarter put the Lightning up for good.

Monroe went out 24-8 on Evansville at halftime, but the Cheesemakers saw the Blue Devils rally to tie the game early in the fourth quarter. However, Monroe would score twice in a four minute span to put the game out of reach in a 40-24 victory. The last score came from running back Tyler Matley on a 10-yard scamper, as he followed it up by converting his fourth, two-point conversion of the game. Matley would finish with 203 yards and four touchdowns on 15 carries as the Cheesemakers ran up 381 yards on the ground in the victory.

Beaver Dam scored a huge victory for the program, coming back to beat perennial Badger Conference contender Monona Grove 26-18 on Saturday at DeForest High School. The Golden Beavers rallied twice in the fourth quarter, as turnovers played a key role in the game. Beaver Dam forced six MG turnovers, including four fumble recoveries by junior linebacker Connor Strasser. The first one came in the second quarter when he recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchback. He added another in the third, then added a fourth quarter fumble recovery on a kickoff to setup the team's go-ahead score, with another fumble recovery in the final period as well. He had four tackles as well for the Golden Beavers.
