VNN Athlete of the Week Nominees: Mar. 29 - Apr. 4

Sydney Jahr, Holmen girls volleyball: The Holmen girls volleyball team has gone unblemished so far during this alternate spring season, going 8-0. Despite only one game last week, Jahr has been exceptional all season, leading the attack of the Vikings squad. Last week Jahr and the team took down Eau Claire Memorial in four sets four their eighth victory of the season. The senior recorded 12 kills, three digs and a block.

Ronell James, Brown Deer football: Brown Deer picked up their second win in as many weeks defeating Pius XI Catholic 30-7 last Thursday. James was an absolute workhorse for the Falcons in their win. The senior running back carried the ball a whopping 36 times, racking up 200 yards and scoring three touchdowns.

Dennis Krioutchenkov, Shorewood boys soccer: Shorewood finally got back on the pitch as the alternate spring season started back up in boys soccer. Krioutchenkov wasted little time in dominating on the grass as Shorewood beat Brown Deer 9-0. The junior forward netted three goals of his own while assisting on three more, accounting for six of the team's nine goals.

Kevin Ramirez, De Pere boys soccer: The De Pere boys soccer team had to wait all week to get in their first match, not playing until Saturday this past week. The Redbirds traveled to Portage to square off with Stevens Point and Eau Claire Memorial in a quad. Ramirez was all over the field in the two matches, scoring a hat trick in the 4-2 win over Stevens Point. He followed that up with another two goals, the only two of the game, in a 2-0 shutout of Eau Claire Memorial.

Abby Reid, Edgewood girls swimming: After not competing at all last season, Reid was ready to get back to the state swim meet for the Edgewood Crusaders. Competing at sectionals last weekend, the junior took home two individual wins and was a part of two relay winning teams as well. Reid won the 500 yard freestyle and 100 yard freestyle before teaming up in the 200 yard medley and 200 yard freestyle winning teams. Edgewood took home the team win in the sectional as Reid advanced to state in her four events.
