Week 2 WisSports.net Spring Football Coaches Poll

Week 1 WisSports.net Spring Football Coaches Poll

There will be no playoffs for the alternate spring football teams, which means there are no divisional placements. In an effort to continue to recognize the outstanding teams and players while placing and evaluating teams in somewhat like-sized groupings, we will be using Large Schools (1000+ enrollment), Medium Schools (999-400), and Small Schools (399 or under) designations.

Large Schools

Not much change in the top of the Large Schools group, with Kimberly holding an ever-so-slim lead over Fond du Lac for the top spot. Bay Port, Sun Prairie, and DeForest once again round out the top five. Pulaski drops out of the rankings after a tough defeat to Kimberly, allowing unbeaten Superior to move into the number ten spot this week.

Medium Schools

Notre Dame is once again the top-ranked team in the WisSports.net Spring Football Medium Schools Coaches Poll, though Greendale has moved up one spot to number two, just ahead of Lodi. Whitnall, ranked ninth, is the only new team into this week's poll, as Evansville drops out following a loss to seventh-ranked Monroe.

Small Schools

Omro keeps its spot atop the Small School rankings once again this week, followed by Bangor, Saint Mary's Springs, and Kewaunee. Fennimore had jumped up to fifth after an opening win over Black Hawk/Warren (IL), but a loss this week to Benton/Scales Mound (IL)/Shullsburg drops the Golden Eagles to eighth. Speaking of Benton/Scales Mound (IL)/Shullsburg, which is more than a mouthful, the Knights tri-op program enters the rankings at seventh after an impressive win last week. Mayville also moves into the rankings for the first time as well coming off a nice win over North Fond du Lac, taking the tenth spot from Poynette, who falls out after a loss.

8-Player

We're just two weeks into the spring football season, and only two unbeaten teams remain in eight-player football. Of course, there are only ten teams playing the eight-player game this spring, but the point remains regardless. One of those unbeaten teams is top-ranked Wisconsin Heights, who had a bye after an opening win over Oakfield. Speaking of the Oaks, they move up from fourth to second this week. The other undefeated squad is Kickapoo/La Farge, who opened its 2021 spring season with a win over Wonewoc/Weston and are now fourth in the rankings. Sturgeon Bay drops one spot to third after falling to Oakfield, while Chequamegon replaces the team it beat this week, Green Bay NEW Lutheran/Oneida/Providence, in the poll.
