WisSports.net Week 3 Player of the Week Nominees

William Cotter, Columbus

In a back-and-forth first half, Columbus and Edgerton saw the lead change several times before squaring up at 21 at halftime. Quarterback William Cotter scored on a one-yard plunge midway through the third quarter and added a 38-yard touchdown pass to Trace Kirchberg later in the quarter to give Columbus an edge they wouldn't surrender in a 35-28 victory. Cotter completed 13-of-25 passes for 240 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions, adding 51 yards and a score on the ground as Columbus remained unbeaten in the spring season.

Brooks Empey, Stoughton

Stoughton trailed Badger Conference rival Monona Grove several times in the first half and was still behind 20-14 at halftime. The Vikings reeled off 22 straight points to cap off the comeback in a 36-20 victory. Brooks Empey led a powerful ground attack with 18 carries for 121 yards and four touchdowns. He scored twice in the first half, and added two touchdowns in the second half during the team's comeback. Empey was a key part of the defense as well, recording eight total tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble.

Tyr Severson, Evansville

Evansville scored an exciting 30-24 overtime victory against McFarland on Friday, as senior quarterback Tyr Severson accounted for all of the Blue Devils' points. That included the game-winning one-yard touchdown run on fourth and goal in the overtime period. Severson completed 14-of-27 passes in the game for 270 yards and two touchdowns as well, running the ball seven times for 27 yards and two touchdowns. He added two, two-point conversion passes plus a two-point conversion run for the victorious Blue Devils.

Kyle Walljasper, Fond du Lac

Fond du Lac continued its domination this spring with a 52-0 shutout of Stevens Point on Friday, as the Panthers jumped out early and led 31-0 before cruising home for the victory. Senior quarterback Kyle Walljasper got things started with a 66-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter, adding two more long touchdowns in the third. On just seven rushing attempts, he went for 205 yards and those three touchdowns, adding 118 yards and a score on eight-of-12 passing as well.

Aiden Wolfram, Notre Dame

It wasn't all smooth sailing for Notre Dame's special teams units on Friday, as the Tritons missed two extra point conversions. That contributed to a late 20-19 deficit against Small Schools fourth-ranked Kewaunee. However, with 11 seconds remaining, Aiden Wolfram booted through a 38-yard field goal to lift the Tritons to a 22-20 win as Medium Schools top-ranked Notre Dame remained unbeaten in the spring season.
