The Greendale Panthers have been selected as the Week 3 WSN Spring Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WSN. The team scored a key Woodland Conference win over rival Greenfield. The Panthers were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 3. A total of 7,987 votes were cast, as Greendale's 3,374 votes edged De Pere's 3,179 votes.

It's fitting that on the weekend that the green jacket was awarded at The Masters, it was all about the "green" in the Woodland Conference, as Greendale squared off with Greenfield. While Greenfield ran more offensive plays and the yardage was virtually identical, Greendale made more plays when it counted in securing a 34-14 victory. Will Brust hit Will Vaile for a three-yard touchdown to open the scoring in the first quarter, and Sam Sommerfeld returned a punt 48 yards for a second midway through the second to give Greendale a lead it would never surrender. Sommerfeld ran for 104 yards and two touchdowns in the game in addition to his big special teams score. Brust was very efficient, completing 10-of-12 passes for 95 yards and two touchdowns, adding 52 yards on the ground.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite team can be named WSN Team of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 4 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
