After beating Green Bay Preble and Kimberly in sectionals on Tuesday, the Lightning squared off with McFarland in the Division 1 state semi-finals. Juan Gomez, Veritas/Tenor boys soccer: Last week Vertias/Tenor beat both Mayville and West Allis Central by a combined score 9-2. The senior forward scored all five of the team's goals as they downed the Cardinals 5-1.

Drew Hanson, Edgerton football: Hanson was calm, cool and collected as he led Edgerton to a 27-22 win over Clinton last Friday. The senior quarterback completed 22 of 36 passes for 258 yards and three scores, adding a fourth touchdown on the ground. With 13 seconds left in the game, Hanson completed a two yard pass to Ethan Krause for the go-ahead score, completing the game-winning drive.

Connor Hussey, Kimberly boys volleyball: After winning a state title in 2019, Kimberly looked to capture gold once again this past Saturday. Hussey set his team up for success all week in the sectional final matchup and the state championship. The senior setter had 49 assists, seven digs, six blocks and an ace in the 3-1 sectional final win over Appleton North. Hussey then continued his excellent play in the state finals against Middleton. He finished with 47 assists, two aces and a block, leading Kimberly to another state title.

Caitlin Wheeler, Washburn girls volleyball: Washburn swept both Chequamegon and Algoma in sectional play Tuesday as they advanced to the alternate season's state tournament. In the 3-2 state semi-final win over St. Mary's Springs, Wheeler finished with 15 kills, 19 digs, and a block.
