Week 4 WisSports.net Team of the Week Nominees

Arcadia Raiders

Arcadia and Kewaunee swapped opponents so that the two teams could play each other in what was hoped to be a more competitive contest. That's exactly what we got, as Arcadia went up 13-0 at halftime and held on for a 13-7 win over the Storm on Friday. Kaden Updike hit Evan Pauly for a 31-yard touchdown to open the scoring in the first quarter, and Updake later added a 93-yard interception return for a score in the second quarter that proved to be a huge swing play in the game. The offense stalled in the second half, but the defense came up big in helping secure the win.

Brodhead/Juda Cardinals

Brodhead/Juda built a 23-8 lead on New Glarus/Monticello early in the third quarter of a showdown between unbeaten teams on Friday, then held on for dear life for a 23-22 victory. NG/M scored twice in the fourth quarter, including a 22-yard scamper by Darris Schuett that pulled the team within one point of Brodhead/Juda. The Knights went for two and the lead, but it was unsuccessful, and Brodhead/Juda was able to hold on for the win. Gage Boegli was big on the ground for the Cardinals, rushing 24 times for 158 yards and a touchdown. Conner Green and Braden Cook also scored rushing touchdowns for Brodhead/Juda.

Greenfield Hustlin' Hawks

Greenfield should be celebrated every week for having one of the state's coolest nicknames: the Hustlin' Hawks. Coming off a loss to Greendale last week, the Hawks had to do some hustlin' against unbeaten Whitnall in Week 4. The game was back-and-forth the whole way, tied late into the fourth quarter. With less than a minute remaining, Jordan Esquivel went in from five yards out for the game-winner as Greenfield celebrated a 21-14 victory. The Greenfield defense was outstanding, holding Whitnall to negative-ten rushing yards on 27 attempts and just 147 yards of total offense.

Menasha Bluejays

Menasha has rebounded nicely from an opening loss to Notre Dame, winning three straight, including a 35-18 victory over visiting Racine Horlick on Friday night at Calder Stadium in Menasha. After Horlick scored the first points of the game, Menasha rattled off 21 unanswered to take a 21-6 halftime lead. After Horlick pulled within 21-18 early in the fourth quarter, Davontre Smith returned the kickoff 77 yards for a touchdown, and AJ Korth hit Luke Maurer for an 87-yard touchdown a few minutes later to put the game out of reach. Korth threw for 154 yards and two scores, adding 60 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Omro Foxes

Omro continued its impressive 2021 spring season by breaking open a tight game at halftime against fellow undefeated team Mayville to cap things off with a running clock 35-6 victory. Quarterback Ben Wellhoefer did throw a touchdown early in the first quarter to open the scoring, but it was ground-and-pound after that, as the Foxes rolled up 353 rushing yards on 46 carries. Wellhoefer went for 191 of those rushing yards, with two touchdowns on 21 carries. Kyle Dietzen added 14 carries for 90 yards and two scores in the win.
