VNN Athlete of the Week Nominees: Apr. 19-25

Will Brust, Greendale football: Brust has been exceptional in this alternate season, leading Greendale to a 5-0 record from the quarterback position. Last Friday in a 17-14 win over Whitnall, the senior quarterback completed 12 of 20 passes for 121 yards and a touchdown, adding another score with his legs.

Emmett Lawton, Notre Dame boys soccer: Notre Dame has been great this season, going 10-1-2 and Lawton has been a key reason why. Last week in a 10-0 win over Ashwaubenon, the sophomore forward netted two goals and assisted on two more. In the following 6-0 win over Manitowoc Lincoln, Lawton netted a hat trick.

Sophia Paape & Shelby Roth, Neenah girls tennis: The duo of Paape and Roth capped off a great season with a doubles state title this past weekend. The doubles team was seeded second in the tournament and beat Tristyn Lueck and Audrey Oschsner of De Pere in the finals, finishing 15-1 on the season.

Riley Stevens, Sun Prairie boys soccer: Sun Prairie has gone undefeated on this alternate season and Stevens has led a very balanced attack. In an 8-0 win over Beaver Dam, he scored a solo goal and followed it up with a goal and an assist in a 10-0 victory over Janesville Parker. Stevens finished the week with a pair of goals in a 2-1 win over Neenah.

Analise Yang, Madison La Follette girls tennis: Yang took home a state championship in this alternate season, finishing her freshman year with a 10-1 record. Yang came into the tournament as the four seed and squared off with Lily Olson of Madison Memorial in the finals, defeating her 6-3 and 6-0.
