Peerson Kephart of Southwestern has been selected as the Week 5 Spring Football Player of the Week following a statewide vote on WisSports.net. His big day set a new state record and helped his team to a win in the process. He was chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 5. A total of 4,968 votes were cast, as Kephart's 1,771 were enough to edge out second place Blake Fletcher of Racine Horlick, who tallied 1717 votes.

Southwestern junior quarterback Peerson Kephart tied a state record with eight passing touchdowns on Friday, as the Wildcats downed Poynette 62-34. Kephart completed 24-of-48 passes for 465 yards in the game with no interceptions. He threw two touchdowns in the first quarter, three in the second, two in the third quarter, and one in the final period. In addition to his exploits on offense, he also returned an interception on defense 50 yards for a second quarter touchdown.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite player can be named WisSports.net Player of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 6 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
