Week 6 WisSports.net Team of the Week Nominees

Bangor Cardinals

Bangor went up big early and then saw Cashton rally to tie things up in the fourth quarter, but the Cardinals showed their championship mettle in securing a 34-28 win. It capped off a huge rushing performance for the Cardinals, who rackd up 362 yards and five touchdowns on 61 carries, as the team did not complete any of its three passes. Bangor has won 41 straight Scenic Bluffs Conference games dating back to 2013.

Oshkosh West Wildcats

Oshkosh West has taken advantage of this spring season and the redesigned Fox Valley Classic Conference to make some nice steps forward as a program. The Wildcats continued to march forward with a 49-22 win over crosstown rival Oshkosh North. West led 42-6 at halftime and 49-6 heading into the fourth quarter in a dominating victory. The quarterback duo of senior Brady Stevens and sophomore Jerry Kaminski combined for 164 yards and three touchdowns, as John Vande Walle hauled in five of those passes for 106 yards and a touchdown. Seven different players had at least one carry, but no one rushed for more than 40 yards as the team accumulated 177 yards. Owen Konopacki made all five extra points and booted a 48-yard field goal.

Superior Spartans

Superior made the long trip to the Green Bay area on Saturday and came away with a 19-10 win over WSN Medium Schools top-ranked Notre Dame. The game was tied at 10 heading into the fourth quarter, when the defense forced a safety to take a narrow lead. The game was very much in doubt until the closing minutes, when Carter Fonger scored on a two-yard touchdown run to provide the final cushion. In addition to scoring the safety, the Spartans' defense limited Notre Dame to just 164 yards of offense. Kaden Kimmes threw for 133 yards and ran for 80 in the win.

Waunakee Warriors

It was a battle of Titans, as both Waunakee and DeForest entered their Week 6 matchup undefeated. These rivals last met in 2019, when DeForest beat Waunakee 35-13 in the regular season before going on to win the Division 3 state title.
