Looking Back

As it turned out, only three games were played in the final week of the 8-player spring season, with Wonewoc/Weston having to cancel against Wisconsin Heights due to low numbers.

On Friday, North Crawford avenged an earlier loss to Kickapoo/La Farge by taking down the Predators 44-26. The Trojans rushed for 478 yards in the contest, with most of the damage coming from Stephen Munson (more on him later). Raiden Steele had 15 carries for 104 yards and a score, adding 17 tackles on defense.

Second-ranked Oakfield rallied in the second half for a 29-26 win over Green Bay NEW Lutheran/Oneida/Providence. Hunter Sabel had an interception return for a touchdown in the second quarter that ended up being key for the Oaks to end the year with a win.

The ball was flying all over the place in Sevastopol, where the Pioneers closed out the season with a 56-40 victory over Door County rival Gibraltar. Jack de Young completed 14-of-19 passes for 395 yards and six touchdowns in the game, as his scoring throws went for 45, 25, 54, 53, 69, and 20 yards. Cole Dvorak caught five passes for 206 yards and three touchdowns, while Spencer Eenson had 169 yards and two touchdowns on the ground for Sevastopol. Gibraltar's Luke Steebs did all he could, throwingn for 318 yards and four touchdowns with 115 yards and a score on the ground. Spencer Krause caught 14 of the passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns. The team's combined for 96 points, 715 passing yards, and 1,098 total yards of offense.

Looking Ahead

The 8-Player alternate fall season is complete for 2021. We look forward to continuing to promote and grow the 8-player game this fall.

Star of the Week: Stephen Munson, North Crawford

Junior running back Stephen Munson helped North Crawford to its first and only win of the season with a big performance in a 44-26 win over Kickapoo/La Farge. He ran 16 times for 291 yards and five touchdowns, adding a 33-yard pass, eight tackles, and a defensive interception. He also had a 21-yard punt return and punted once for 35 yards.
