Week 7 WisSports.net Team of the Week Nominees

De Pere Redbirds

De Pere finished off a perfect 7-0 spring season with a 24-10 win over Oshkosh West on Friday night at Titan Stadium in Oshkosh. Sophomore quarterback Gabe Herman threw for 141 yards and two touchdowns, adding 34 yards on the ground. Adam Timbrook ran it 23 times for 107 yards and two second-half scores for the Redbirds, whose lead had dipped to 12-10 midway through the third quarter.

Eau Claire Memorial Old Abes

Eau Claire Memorial closed out the spring season with a 20-0 shutout of crosstown rival Eau Claire North on Friday. The Old Abes got things going with a safety in the first quarter, then booted a field goal on the first play of the second quarter to go up by the rare score of 5-0. Brice Wingad would run for a score and throw for one later to provide the final margin. Reese Woener finished with 149 rushing yards for Eau Claire Memorial.

Fond du Lac Cardinals

What was a highly-competitive and entertaining de facto championship game turned into a route behind one of the most dominating rushing performances the state has ever seen. Fond du Lac pulled away from Kimberly in the third quarter for a 71-47 victory. Leading the way was quarterback Kyle Walljasper, who carried it just 16 times but went for 320 yards and five touchdowns. He added 82 passing yards and a touchdown as well. Running back Braelon Allen had a huge night as well with 12 carries for 270 yards and four touchdowns.

Madison Club Team

After the Madison Metropolitan School District choose to cancel not only the fall season but the spring season for all four of its high schools, Madison West coach Brad Murphy and a group of coaches and parents sprang to action, putting together a non-school sanctioned club team, knowing it would likely cost them their jobs. The team was able to find four games this spring, winning all four, including a 28-6 decision over Milton in Week 7. Will Gutknecht ran for 176 yards and two touchdowns and quarterback Danny Karofsky threw for 126 and a score. Javon Boyton had three interceptions on defense.

Stoughton Vikings

Stoughton put the spring season to bed on a high note, downing Medium Schools second-ranked Notre Dame 19-0 at Stoughton High School Saturday afternoon. The Vikings ground game was powerful, led by 109 yards from Jonah O'Connor, who also threw for 31 yards. Brooks Empey added 87 rushing yards and a score, while Darrick Hill chipped in with 55 yards and a touchdown.
