WisSports.net Week 7 Player of the Week Nominees

Carson Bresser, Waupun

Waupun ended a 27-game overall losing streak and 23-game conference skid with a 21-16 victory over North Fond du Lac on Friday. Senior Carson Bresser was all over the field in all facets. He threw for 90 yards and two touchdowns, adding 35 yards on the ground. Bresser led the team with eight tackles and intercepted a pass on defense. He also booted three extra points to help the Warriors end their lengthy losing streak.

Gabe Finley, DeForest

For a little bit, it seemed like the 2019 Division 3 rematch between DeForest and Menasha was headed for another low-scoring affair, as Gabe Finley had the lone first quarter score, a 56-yard touchdown run. However, a track meet quickly broke out, and DeForest pulled away for a 59-40 win. Finley finished with 147 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries, adding a 26-yard touchdown pass on a halfback option in the fourth quarter to help put the game away.

Aaron Jones, Appleton East

Quarterback Aaron Jones had a hand in all five of Appleton East's touchdowns as the Patriots downed Bay Port 34-28 to close out the spring football season. Jones opened the scoring with a 57-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, one of three rushing scores he account for in the game, as he finished with 101 yards on 16 carries. Jones also threw a pair of touchdowns, both in the fourth quarter to break open what had been a tie game coming into the final period.

David Mueller, Saint Mary's Springs

Saint Mary's Springs had its share of struggles this season, but the Ledgers ended things on a high note, dominating Laconia 42-14. David Mueller impacted every part of the game, going for a game-high 135 rushing yards and three touchdowns, catching three passes for 46 yards, returning the second half kickoff for an 80-yard score, and recording an interception on defense.

Ben Wellhoefer, Omro

Omro capped off a perfect 7-0 season with a 49-22 win over Campbellsport, racing out to a 35-0 halftime lead and 42-0 advantage heading into the fourth quarter. Omro's Ben Wellhoefer accounted for all five, first-half touchdowns, rushing for three and throwing for two. He completed all three of his passes in the game for 145 yards and those two scores, with 10 rush attempts for 192 yards and three touchdowns.
