VNN Athlete of the Week: May 17-23

Below are the VNN Athlete of the Week Nominees for the week of May 17 through 23. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

VNN Athlete of the Week Nominees: May 17-23

Kobe Brown, Racine Case boys track and field: Brown took home two individual wins and was a part of relay winning team as Racine Case took part in the Racine County Invitational on Friday. In the 100 meter race, the senior beat the competition with a time of 11.43. Brown went ahead and won the long jump at 20 and 3/4 after anchoring the 4x100 meter relay team that won in 45.87.

Adelynn Hyatt, Cashton girls track and field: Hyatt won two individual races and was a part of a relay winning team as the Cashton girls track and field team took second place at their home Invite over the weekend. She won the 100 meter hurdles in 15.96 and also the 300 meter hurdles in 49.4. Hyatt then took part in the 800 meter relay winning team that won in 1:48.96.

Paytn Monticelli, Cedarburg softball: Monticelli has been spectacular all season, and continued her dominance on the field this past week as Cedarburg picked up a trio of wins. In an 11-2 win over West Bend East, the standout junior pitched seven innings, allowing two runs and striking out 18 batters while going two for four from the plate with a home run and three RBIs. She then went two for two with a home run and four RBIs in an 11-0 win over Grafton. Monticelli, a UW-Madison commit, ended the week with a 2-0 win over Homestead, giving up two hits and striking out 16.

Ava Stelter, Lake Mills girls soccer: Stelter was unstoppable on the soccer pitch this past week as Lake Mills went 3-0-1. In a 4-3 win over Lodi, she netted all four goals. In the following 1-0 win over Fort Atkinson and 1-1 tie with Delavan-Darien, the phenomenal junior netted the goal in each game. To end the week, Stelter a UW-Madison commit, netted five goals and added two assists in a 9-0 win over Jefferson.

Jaden Stuhr, Marion baseballl: Stuhr led Marion to a pair of wins this past week on the baseball field, collecting both wins on the mound. First in a 22-0 three-inning win over Gresham, Stuhr pitched two innings, striking out six and allowing one hit. He went two for three from the plate with two triples, four RBIs, a walk and two runs scored. Stuhr, just a sophomore, then pitched a six-inning 6-5 win over Bowler, allowing zero earned runs, three hits and striking out 13 batters. From the plate he went two for four with a triple, three RBIs, a walk and two stolen bases.
