VNN Athlete of the Week Nominees: May 31 - June 6

Martina Harrington, Kenosha St. Joseph girls soccer: Harrington has been spectacular this season, sitting atop the WSN stats leaders page in points scored so far. Last week, the junior forward started the week off with a hat trick in an 8-0 win over University School. She followed it up with two goals and two assists in a 5-1 win over Catholic Central. Harrington then finished the week with another two goals and one assist in a 5-1 win over Racine St. Catherine's.

Jared Lessman, Saint Croix Falls baseball: Lessman has been phenomenal this season on the mound for the Saint Croix Falls baseball squad. Last week, he continued his tear. He ended the week pitching six innings in a 7-0 win over Hayward, striking out 15 batters and allowing just one hit. Lessman began the week pitching four innings of a five-inning 15-0 win over Chetek-Weyerhaeuser. He struck out 10 and allowed zero hits, which tallied his third no-hitter of the season.

Maddie Oehkle, Glenwood City softball: Oehlke has been an absolute workhorse for Glenwood City this year, going 16-2 in the 18 games she's pitched in. She amassed three more wins last week starting with a complete game 5-2 win over Durand where she struck out 11 and gave up just one earned run. Oehlke then pitched a five-inning 10-0 complete game win over Spring Valley, striking just four but allowing two hits. The spectacular senior finished the week pitching all eleven innings in a 7-4 extra inning win over Elk Mound. She struck out 11 and allowed just one earned run.

Maggie Starker, Whitefish Bay girls soccer: The Blue Dukes haven't lost a game this season in girls soccer and Starker has been a key reason why. The senior forward is one of the better goal scorers in the state and proved why last week. In an 8-0 win over Cedarburg, Starker netted two goals. She finished the week in glorious fashion, netting four goals and assisting on another in a 10-0 win over Grafton.

Luke Vance, Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau boys track and field: Vance did everything he could to lead the G-E-T track team at the Coulee Conference Championships this past weekend. In his senior season, he captured four individual conference championships. Vance won the 100 meter dash in 11.34 seconds and also the 200 meter in 23.44 seconds. He went on to win the 400 meter race in 50.91 seconds and finished up his day by winning the long jump in 20-2.
