Football Week 1 Prep Props: State's Top Performances

Prep Props - Week 1

Prep Props is our weekly look at the best individual statistical performances in the state, with the leaders in rushing yards, passing yards, and receiving yards. Prep Props is published every Monday morning, and for players to be included, coaches must enter game stats by 8 am on Monday.

Week 1 Rushing Leaders

Westosha Central and Racine Park just kept scoring last Friday, including six total touchdowns in the fourth quarter, though Westosha Central would pull away for a 63-34 victory. Jakob Simmons was a big play waiting to happen for the victorious Falcons, carrying the ball 29 times for 342 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 11.8 yards per carry.

Week 1 Passing Leaders

Evansville won a thriller Friday night, topping Reedsburg 34-33 in overtime as the Blue Devils stuffed a potential game-winning two-point conversion. Chase Maves was the man for Evansville all game, completing 14-of-23 passes for 385 yards and five touchdowns. Two of those scores came in the fourth quarter as Evansville rallied to force overtime, and he added a 34-yarder in the first possession of the extra period to put the Blue Devils ahead.

Week 1 Receiving Leaders

Racine Park couldn't quite keep up with Westosha Central in a 63-34 loss on Friday, but the Panthers' offense did put up some big numbers. Junior wide receiver Trey Carothers hauled in five passes for 232 yards and three touchdowns, catching scores from 36, 65, and 93 yards in the game.
