RallyAroundUs Athlete of the Week Nominees: August 30 - September 5

Mitchell Butson, Portage/Poynette boys soccer: Butson was spectacular on the week for the Portage/Poynette co-op team. He netted one goal and added two assists in a 7-2 win over Mauston early in the week. In the following 5-5 tie with Monroe, the senior midfielder netted a hat trick. Butson finished the week off with two goals and two more assists in 10-0 thrashing of Nekoosa.

Jonah Jensen, Brookfield Academy football: Brookfield Academy got out to an early lead on Catholic Central on Friday, and it's a good thing, as 22 unanswered fourth quarter points by the Hilltoppers made it a game before Brookfield Academy held on for a 49-42 victory. Senior quarterback Jonah Jensen had a hand in six of the Knights' touchdowns, rushing 20 times for 350 yards and five scores to go with 83 passing yards and a touchdown through the air. He also had 12 tackles and an interception on defense.

Denis Krioutchenkov, Shorewood boys soccer: Krioutchenkov had quite the week as he netted four separate hat tricks in four wins. First in a 10-0 win over Whitnall, he had three goals and three assists. The senior forward then had three goals and an assist in a 16-0 win over Cudahy/St. Francis and followed it up with three goals in a 5-1 win over Milwaukee King. To finish the week, Krioutchenkov netted another three goals and added two more assists in a 5-0 win over Germantown.

Abby Ongna, Marshfield girls volleyball: Marshfield went 5-0 and took home the title in their home tournament this past Saturday. Ongna led the Tigers as they didn't drop a single set with wins over Ripon, Ladysmith, Ashwaubenon, Antigo and Abbotsford. She had a team high 43 kills in the five matches and added 27 digs on the day.

Rachel Rossing, Lake Country Lutheran girls volleyball: Lake Country Lutheran didn't drop a single set as they went 5-0 at the New Berlin West Tournament. Rossing was the key assist for the Lightning in their wins over St. Thomas More, Appleton East, Franklin, Edgerton and Racine Case. The junior setter tallied 104 assists, 24 digs, seven kills and six aces on the weekend.
