The Slinger Owls have been selected as the Week 4 WSN Football Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WSN. The team scored a big win over North Shore rival Homestead to hand the Highlanders their first defeat. The Owls were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 4. A total of 5,849 votes were cast, as Slinger's 2,301 votes edged Muskego's 2,071 votes.

Every week is a battle for Slinger, who has played three, one-score games in addition to a long trip to Marshfield in Week 2 that ended in a no contest when weather moved in early in the game. After falling to Hartford 24-20 to begin North Shore Conference play last week, the Owls traveled to Division 2, second-ranked Homestead. Slinger jumped out to a 20-0 lead after the first quarter, as Avery Kurth caught a pair of touchdowns and ran for another. From there, the Owls held on for dear life, and pulled out a 20-14 victory over Homestead. Kurth finished with 129 total yards and three touchdowns, adding five tackles and an interception on defense.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite team can be named WSN Team of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 5 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
