WisSports.net Week 5 Player of the Week Nominees

Trey Colts, Cambridge

Cambridge ran for more than 500 yards as a team in a 53-7 victory over Dodgeland on Friday, with most of the damage done by senior running back Trey Colts. He carried the ball just 20 times, but went for 444 yards and six touchdowns on the ground, averaging 22.2 yards per carry. His rushing total is seventh-most in state history. Colts also caught two passes for 29 yards and a touchdown while adding five tackles on defense.

Brennen Dvorachek, Reedsville

The Kwik Trip Game of the Week turned into a blowout unfortunately, as Reedsville got out early and never looked back in a 42-7 win over Hilbert in a battle of unbeaten Big East Conference squads. Reedsville quarterback Brennen Dvorachek, a state champion in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles, got into the open field frequently and made the Wolves pay to the tune of 16 carries for 283 yards and four touchdowns. The senior also completed four-of-seven passes for 119 yards and a touchdown, adding five tackles on defense and a 47 yard punt return.

Cole Evavold, River Falls

River Falls remained unbeaten in the Mississippi Valley Conference on Friday night with a 42-14 victory over La Crosse Central, who was riding high after a Week 4 win against Onalaska. Wildcats running back Cole Evavold averaged better than 10 yards per carry as the team's leading rusher, carrying the ball 23 times for 235 yards with two touchdowns as the team remains in good position for a league title.

Carsen Hause, Stanley-Boyd

What a game it was between Stanley-Boyd and Mondovi in the Cloverbelt Conference Friday night. Stanley-Boyd led 15-6 at halftime, only to see Mondovi reel off 21 straight points, taking a 27-15 lead with about two-and-a-half minutes remaining in the game. The Orioles got down the field quickly to pull within 27-22 with just over a minute remaining when Carsen Hause hit Cooper Nichols for a 12-yard score. Stanley-Boyd conserved its timeouts for defense and was able to force a punt and take over with about 50 seconds remaining. Hause led the team down the field, and found Michael Karlen for a game-winning 12 yard touchdown pass as time expired to give the Orioles a 28-27 victory. Hause finished 27-of-43 for 354 yards and four touchdowns, with 42 yards on the ground as well.

Kashton Kangas, Westfield

Westfield ended a 23-game conference losing streak that had dated back to 2016 with a 26-8 victory over Poynette on Friday. Junior quarterback Kashton Kangas threw for 161 yards and three touchdowns, including a pair of fourth quarter scores to help put the game out of reach, on 11-of-16 passing. He added 70 yards on eight carries as well for the Pioneers. Kangas also recorded six tackles on defense, handled punting duties for Westfield, and booted a pair of extra points.
