Looking Back

Last year Prairie Farm pulled off a huge upset to take down Luck, as it was the only win of the year for the Panthers and the only loss of the season for the Cardinals. The teams squared off again last week with Luck seeking some revenge. However, it proved to be a similar contest to last season, with Prairie Farm scoring the final 22 points and pulling away for a 38-24 victory. As a result, Prairie Farm made a big jump into the WSN Coaches Poll this week at number seven, while Luck falls from fourth to eighth.

Newman Catholic remained unbeaten behind a 55-0 shutout of Port Edwards. Quarterback Conner Krach was nearly perfect, completing 15-of-16 passes for 211 yards and four touchdowns.

Clayton has been very impressive this year, and the Bears jumped several spots to number five this week after taking down Frederic 41-8. The only score for Frederic came via a 90-yard kick return, as the Vikings managed less yards of offense (80).

Thorp's Aiden Rosemeyer had a huge game in a 46-30 victory over Flambeau, throwing for 235 yards and three touchdowns with 117 yards and a score on the ground.

Phillips put up nearly 600 rushing yards in a 78-38 win over Alma Center Lincoln on Friday. James Bruhn had 295 yards and five touchdowns on 13 carries while Will Knaack added 221 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.

Almond-Bancroft rallied from an 18-8 fourth quarter deficit to defeat Lake Holcombe 22-18. Elijah Applebee hit Ayden Phillips for a score and Daniel Burns went in for a short touchdown run to help rally the Eagles.

Algoma led Gibraltar 50-18 in the fourth quarter, but it ended as a one-score game as Gibraltar rattled off 24 late points before a 50-42 final score. Both quarterbacks went for big games. Carter Zimmerman of Algoma threw for 115 yards and three touchdowns with 280 yards and three scores on the ground. Gibraltar's Sam Lindenberg had 184 yards and three touchdowns through the air to go with 148 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

McDonell Central had a huge fourth quarter comeback on Saturday to defeat Northwood/Solon Springs 36-30. The Macks trailed by 16 entering the final quarter before the ground game started to take over.

Looking Ahead

Newman Catholic has looked as dominant as any 8-player team in the state, outscoring opponents 210-30 to this point. The Cardinals take on a Greenwood team that has rebounded nicely from a tough opening loss to McDonell Central.

Siren and Prairie Farm are both undefeated this season and will square off on Friday in Siren. Prairie Farm can't have any letdowns after last week's big win over Luck.

Oakfield and Belmont are two of the top teams in the state, as Oakfield sits at number three in the WSN Coaches Poll while Belmont is just outside the top ten, though the Braves rebounded with a shutout of Kickapoo/La Farge last week.

Shell Lake went down for the first time last week against Siren, and the Lakers have no time to waste in trying to get back on track, taking on unbeaten Clayton this week.

Star of the Week: Tyler Rassbach, Prairie Farm

Prairie Farm quarterback Tyler Rassbach had a hand in all five Panthers scores in a 38-24 comeback win over Luck last Friday. That included a pair of touchdown runs in the second half as the team rallied from a halftime deficit to remain unbeaten. He finished with 144 yards and two touchdowns through the air, adding 13 carries for 95 yards and three scores.
